This is only what came in my mind, from my own experience with DA2.

I can't say why, but the more I play this game over and over, the more I can see a lot of Batman references in Dragon Age II. Hawke makes the perfect Bruce Wayne, his friends remind me a lot of his antagonists and allies too. The fact he keeps losing members in his family makes him "stronger" and aim for more justice (no pun intended).

By the end of the game, he makes one important choice that will influence the fate of two groups, hence the Dark Knight's title that stick in my mind. Batman is also a hero with a shady past who makes a lot of though decisions that will always make people love or hate him. It's pretty much the same for Hawke. The more you see about him or her, the more you see that he's not forced to be a hero. Some people in Kirkwall even considers him/her like a menace, like a hero or some kind of anti-hero. The Champion title fits him well, hehe.

As for the skills... Both Hawke and Batman are pretty well equipped to beat up the baddies...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who made this parallel between both heroes... Sorry if this sounded way off topic.

Isabela would be Catwoman.

Merrill would be Ra's daughter, can't think of her name.

Aveline would be Comissioner Gordon or the Barbara Gordon as Batgirl.

Talia.

I was scratching my head at that comparison, since Merrill's rather innocent and naive while Talia's... crazy.

When I read the title, I imagined my rogue Hawke crouched on the top of a building overlooking Kirkwall. Then, in an over-the-top gruff lady voice "I am the night" and jumping off. Made me giggle.

I don't read the comics just watch the cartoons & movies. I have never seen Talia crazy accept for the one time she let her father take over her body and let her conciousness/soul just fade into the ether.

THE Batman.

But Hawke has a posse to back him/her up, Batman usually does his work solo.

True, until he gets Robin and Robin-girl. :P It's always good to have a sidekick anyways. If Hawke was the Batman, my Robin would be Anders. x)

And he also has his butler... Mmm... Sandal and his foster dad? :P

That would be a good comparison since Carver is a complete and total dick.

I would say Bethany is the  Dick Grayson role.
