And I thought it was hard to make Characters Look Good in Demon's Souls

Seriously why do games like this and Oblivion make you work an hour and a half just so your character doesn't look like he has down syndrome?

Humans are once again the hardest race to make look good and even than they don't look that great. WTB Handsome /Prettier faces

I'm sure there are technical reasons that are beyond ones comprehension unless thats your field of expertise.

And to be fair, they do look a lot better than Oblivion. Though Oblivion could have really nice results on the PC if used that one mod (I forget what it was, but it seemed like it was essentially importing shapes).

Than again Oblivion never had your character say anything or emote anything.

Unless the game is like Aion where all the characters are ridiculously good looking (this is my understanding).

Its always going to be tough to create the character you want.... maybe even impossible. But I think we'll eventually reach that area..

Not any harder than other RPGs. Actually I find it easier than Oblivion cc for example.

I think the more options you have, the more you could get wrong. More options are a very good thing for detailing your character, but a creator like Oblivion for example required you to put a lot more time in to get what you want. Try altering the settings with a picture in front of you. I must admit I like to draw so my characters were hand-drawn before I used the creator, which helped me "visualize" where I wanted each facial setting. They aren't perfect, but they are close enough to what I wanted that I'm pretty content.

Well while on the topic of Voices the males are really bad.  Than again I've hadn't seen a Bio Ware game with a good voice since BG2 and even than there was only 1.

Than again the only other game with character creation that had good male voices was Soul Calibur 4

This character creator wasn't too hard to use, there weren't many decent hair options though. Oblivion on the other hard was a pain in the ass for me that I just gave up and settled after a while.

i like my human noble sure he could easy be more good looking but that is just my inability to make him better looking, but if you look around there are alot of great created humans out there (men and women alike).

I didn't find it hard at all either, it's nothing compared to fallout 3.. In that game it took me 2 - 3 hours to make a good looking female, on this one it has taken me 2 hours to make like 7 characters.

Same here. I tried in Fallout 3, but I usually wind up picking one of the default presets. DA is easy, IMO

This is the easiest character generator that I have used that doesn't just give you 15 presets for the face, 15 for the hair, and handful of beards, and that is it. Fallout 3 and Oblivion were just too complex, and took too long to get anything decent. I can't remember ever getting a nose I liked in oblivion.

I do think this Generator could use a few more options in terms of eyes, eyebrows, beards, and hair styles. Maybe we will see some added in the first update. My only other gripe is that beards auto set cheek/jaw and mouth sliders. So if I wanna beard I have to have full lips, and sunken cheeks.

No chubby faced people can grow facial hair in Ferelden, apparently. Save dwarves ofcourse.

Out of all the face gen. games out there.. I've found this one the easiest to make more realistic unique faces with.. Sims 3 all kind of look alike for some reason .. no matter how exaggerated the features.. cartoony.. Oblivion and Fallout had the basic Betheseda ugliness gene.. I don't know what it is but they sure know how to make people and creatures look wrong. Mass effect you could make some neat realistic people but you really were only choosing some basic features. I guess I don't really have that many games that let you have total control over faces.. I know games like Saints Row 1 and 2 had it but I never played.. and I'm sure some sports games have some ways of making unique faces but I don't play those either..

Bah. The decent looking characters were easy for me. This guy, however (see left), took a lot of tweaking to make him (a Dwarf Commoner) look like an ex-thug.

Yeah I was also surprised at the lack of hair options.

I haven't had any issues, to be honest, I think all 24 of my characters look decent, some even very pretty/handsome. I am sorry you are having trouble with it. My best suggestion is going with the 'base preset' (slide all the way to the right and get the 'bald guy/girl' option) and mess around with that, it's the prettiest/handsomest preset, IMO. Take you time, use the sliders at every option. Little things can make a huge difference, like moving the brow up and down, or changing the brow color a little darker. Nose height makes a pretty big difference too, as does the thin/thickness of the lips. Knowing the personality beforehand helps quite a lot too, for me.

And god help you if you try to add a beard to your character and are a perfectionist. -shakes fist at the gap between his character's cheek and beard in frustration-

It's causing me to consider rebuilding Stark here from the ground up, but I REALLY enjoy the beard he has. It suits him, I think. >.<

I didn't find the character generator too hard to get right either. Although I did enjoy spending quite a bit of time with Oblivion and Fallout3 making characters, so maybe I just have a different definition of fun. (Especially all the work on Oblivion and Fallout 3 for characteres you don't really even see T_T)

Listen to the wise one. Save your character before attempting to add a beard.

At least we have a character gen to use. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of picking stock faces and looking generic; meeting my clone somewhere else in the game world. Could it be better? Sure it could (A lot of WWE Smackdown games come to mind. Now that's got tons upon tons of character building options and is fairly simple to use), but I am pleased at the effort they put into it. They could of just gone the route of stock premade faces, but instead put some time into allowing us to make a PC more unique to us.

Takes work, money, and time to make a game and I'm invested into the quality and enrichment of the content as a whole when it comes to Bioware in general. Most things are built in-house from Bioware instead of them just running off and taking some other company's engine (the sell out route IMHO from a designers standpoint, man up lol!) Good job guys!

I think my human (avatar pic) turned out well. Maybe takes just some more effort or an eye for aesthetics, but heck, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I am quite pleased with the character creators BioWare has given us throughout their games. A lot better than some of those generic faces like TNSire mentioned.
