The first year of the decade is X1. There is no 0 to start. So the full ten years would start 1st January 2011 and end on 31 December 2020.

So you didnt celebrate the milennia change at 2000, but 2001? Lol, you are so wrong.

The best RPG of the decade?  It's 2011!  You lose all credibility when you say something like that.  At least with me you do.

RPG of the decade *snort* Good one.

It is a decent enough game, but personally I was more excited by merely watching the Skyrim trailer than I ever felt or was for DA2. EVER. And this says something for a Bioware- Fan since 2003. Guess these days are coming to an end, sadly (which is not even to blame on the game for me, rather the crap BW has piled beside it)

And now excuse me, I'll grab my popcorn and so. DA2 forum is too amusing these days. In a good way

Sh*t-storm, gooo. *assuming control* :wizard:

DA2 is the best RPG of the decade at the moment. Great story, great action, almost perfect balance between the two. There is a lot of open sobbing on the forums right now, but positive change (which this is) always has detractors.

Positive change, seriously?

Enemies spawning outta thin air behind my Mage, completely negating any kind of strategic and tactical thought or placement of my party is a step backwards.

Recycled environments ad-nauseum is a step-backwards.

Button Mashing combat, is a step backwards.

Not being able to equip my party as "I" see fit, is a step backwards.

Mind-numbling boring fetch quest's to the same aforementioned dungeon's is a step-backwards.

Shall I go on?

What exactly did you find to be a step forward in DAII over DA:O?

They're just trying to get it in there as early as possible, that way if it does end up being the best in 9 years time they can say "Look, we told you first. Arent we great?"

Since when has PC Gamer been a credible source?

Also gotta love them and PCG UK talking about the story and not really much anything else in the game, then going on to give it a 94

Hurf durp

Well, if the decade started with 2011 they are right ... until now (March 2011) no better RPG has come out.

It's a play on words to get media attention because as many have stated, we're only in the third month of this decade so far (there was no year zero, so don't even start with me :P).

No the decade started 1 year and 3 months ago. 2011 is obviously 1 year into the new decade. Its not like the next decade will start in 2021.

So all the games from 2010 has to be taken into account.

Gregorian calendar, the time scheme western civilizations use, does not have a year zero.  It went directly from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D.  A decade is 10 years, 1+10=11.  Each subsequent decade thus starts on the 1 and ends on the 10.  There is no room for interpretation here.  Hell, even the Julian calendar had no year zero.

Stop trolling. I have a copy of PC Gamer in front of me. Here is the actual quote:

PC Gamer wrote...

Is this the best RPG of the decade? Nine more years will tell, but for now, yes.

That means they are saying it's the best RPG of the past year and 3 months, basically. They're still full of **** with their 94% rating, however. Personally, I found this quote more /facepalm inducing:

PC Gamer wrote...

The best RPG combat ever.

It's the best RPG of the decade by virtue of the fact that 2010 doesn't technically count as part of this decade

So really it means nothing

Actually, he's absolutely right. As someone else pointed out, there was no such thing as "year 0", but the big milelnium celebrations were held a year early because 2000 is a sexier number, and doing it in 2001 would have required endless (and probably pointless) attempts to explain things to the ignorant.

...and as far as the OP goes - unless something goes horribly wrong, DA2 is going to be brutally "dethroned" as the best RPG of the decade in about two months.

Doesnt matter, mate. Thats not how it is used today. The millennia changed at 2000, not 2001... most of the western world agreed upon that.

I think that a number of outlets got advanced review copies and the editors knew that the best score/quote/accolade would end up on the shipping package. For every unit of DA2 that goes out, so does a PC Gamer logo on the box.

As of right now, DA2 is the RPG of the decade. No other game comes close.

Sure, as long as you don't consider Two Worlds 2. DA2 beats the pants off ArcaniA, however, I'll give you that.

You miss the point. He chopped the line all to pieces in order to incite another uproar in troll-town. He quoted "the best RPG of the decade" as if it were a statement, when it was a hypothetical question. Maybe you should read more carefully.

Doesn't mean that they're right.  I see 2000 as an epoch, personally, with 2001 marking the start of  the millennium.

Well we're only 1 year into that "decade" and already they are catastrophically wrong. Mass Effect 2 was better. Even Fallout: New Vegas was a better RPG.

New Vegas was great. Add to that great DLC -  Dead Money. Awesome story with great voice acting. Also, massive replayability with huge amount of mods. 265 hours played in NV so far. Origins is at 415 hours due to mods as well.

PCGamer was never really a reliable source of gaming industry news. At least for myself.
