I found one of these and the choices are to burn it, read it or take it.

My only question is if anything special happens if you find all his books and take them.  Otherwise the book is junk in my inventory.   If nothing special happens i might as well just get the free attribute points

destroy all five of them to get access to the Fell Grimoire. After you destroy or read that one, you have to fight Xebenbeck (Achievement-Related). I'd suggest only reading the Grimoire, you will only receive those attribute points once, if you read the normal books, the quest fails (unable to complete). So destroy the 5 books, read the Grimoire, get free points, kill Demon, get Achievement, do the happy-dance

ah thanks alot     i have a save before i did anything to the books.

Leave Merill out your party till the Grimoire or you get rivalry for destroying, then when you read the grimoire you get friendship points too!
