i have ticked the option on but the blood on my armour/body goes away after 5 seconds:(

The option seems to be mis-named or needs a description.
It doesn't change the duration that bodies stay on screen. However, it lessens the chance of bodies exploding when they die.

Sorry, but I don't know how to make the durations longer. All I can suggest is to keep an eye out in the modding forum because no doubt someone will work it out and make a Gore mod.
