One question, tho (and pardon my ignorance) - I tweaked my savegame from right before the Faith quest and got that to work correctly. But do I also need to edit the worldvault.gda file mentioned in the first post? What I do find interesting, tho, is that my import file is not showing some values, but the associated quests are showing up (ex. I made Bhelen King in Orzammar and the import file shows Harrowmont, but the quest in Act 1 still showed up).
Actually, another question - I did what someone suggested and started a new game with a DA:O import and could see just how messed up the flags were with the Awakenings one I originally imported. Jeez. There were over 100 lines that didn't transfer! Which of these do I really need to copy over? How do I figure out what they are? I wouldn't want to do anything that causes a conflict, but I at least want Act 3 to make sense with what I did in Origins.
Thanks you all so much for all the hard work going on here!
Edit: Oh, I think I figured it out after re-reading this thread and looking more closely at my save files. Let me see if I have this right - the G2DA_COLUMN_3 numbers in worldvault.gda file correspond to the various flags (approvals, romances, etc.) in the savegames (for a yes/no (or active/inactive) flag, the value is either 1 or 0 and for the approvals it is a number between 1-100, right?) . So I need to look at the saved game from the import that worked correctly and find the applicable flag, using the number from the worldvault.gda file, in either the 17603 or 17607 array And then I just need to copy that item to the same array in my current saved game for the character I am playing now. Is that right?

That sounds correct -- and you do not have to modify the gda file, just your savesDVLEsq wrote...
I just wanted to thank those of you who have posted all the tips here. I've never really had the desire to mess with one of my games like this, but I put so much time into DA:O to have it just how I wanted, that I want to see things play out right in DA:2. (Curse Bioware for such a well crafted story!)

Thanks again!

Is there a very basic guide on how to use this - sorry not so compute savvy when it comes to these types of things.
Much appreciated.

These are words that some of teams at Bioware should learn. Because as much as I like DA-II and applaud Bioware for thinking out of the box, DA-II is in the latter category.
More importantly, Good work Monochrome Wench!
Edit: MW's patch fixed the romance bugs, but it didn't fix Nathanials quest...
aye, so what do I have to do to delve into my and make the "Finding Nathanial" quest show up intsead of "Fool's Gold"?

I 'fixed' this by making a generated save game with my choices with that gibbed savegame generator
Then fixed some things manually using the GFF editor and then used import thingy fixer. Quite alot of work for something that shouldn't be fixed by the community but by BW really. Keep in mind though for some reason this makes you a dwarf so check that, when i imported the first time and checked with zz_vault_debug i was a Human Male Mage, after some editing i suddenly became a Female Dwarf and i never touched those settings.
You have to set that flag 'Nathaniel friendly/eligible' or something.
But i still get references ingame about my warden being in Amaranthine/Vigil's keep and 'returning to Denerim' and such. The save game i originally had i was Chancellor, went through the mirror with Morrigan and saved Amaranthine+Vigils keep... but still i'm 'missing' in the end..
