The DAO High Dragon  was far harder then this one due to the fact it did not focus on one player it only it focused on the one who was hitting it the most and it could also kick you and swing it tail. Now the mature dragon I faced on nigthmare was too easy to kill due to it focusing only on one player ignoring my archer and mages who was hitting it all the time. I was very disappointed because I would of thought it would of been the more harder of bosses.
I would of liked it to be more challegeing guess next run i will try not using any Range/Mage characters and see if things change. Did anyone else find this Dragon to be a disappointment?

There's a High Dragon too, don't worry. The Mature Dragon is only the beginning....

Yep. There is a High Dragon later on...

... But it's pretty easy. Beat it first try on Nightmare without much thinking...

High Dragon fight was pathetic...should have spawn 2 mature dragons when it's on the ledge, might make things more interesting then.

It didn't for you? Level must make a difference because I fought 3.

Those weren't mature dragons that spawned with him, October Sixth, those were just dragons.

Level makes a difference, but the higher the level the better gear you need. Personally, I found this high dragon, not very satisfactory in defeating her..On origins I was level 14 she killed sten, and my damage dealer, so I had to tank with 1 mage healing. Took about 30 minutes to kill it (hard difficulty) was satisfying to me =)

High dragon on Nightmare was laughably easy >_< I was so disappointed. I even equipped fire resistance runes specially for this fight, stocked up on pots, all that stuff. Brought life ward potions. In the end did it in one try without anyone even falling.

Same for me too and also the epic final blow .

I guess I was right in assuming the High Dragon would be the same as the mature in difficulty sadly seriously the High dragon should be the second hardest thing to face but due to rubbish ai they can be screwed over and beaten easily.

It took me no longer than 20 mins, but that still was boring.
Because she doesn't do something unexpected.

kiting is too powerful, killed mature dragon on Nightmare just by walking in circles around him without taking any serious damage.. Aveline has stun resist as well so it makes any dragon fight a yawn fest zzzz.....

IMO, some of the bosses have way too much hp. It's even worse that it's near impossible to apply combos to them, so your best way of dealing damage is gone. I think bosses need a certain threshold of hp to keep the player from dropping the boss in seconds, but... yeah. Some of them could have had half their hp and been a lot more fun (I'm looking at you, Rock Wraith).

Even on Easy mode the High Dragon in Act 3 was challenging with its obscenely large amount of health. And that in itself proves that button mashing is not the way to win this game. But I liked the battle. Wish though that it had done the "OM NOM NOM" attack that Origins High Dragons did, but whatever I don't really care that much.

I donno, the first time I encountered the Mature Dragon I wasn't ready for it and got my butt kicked on two attempts. Had to turn the difficulty down (which I'm proud to say I only had to do twice, during the game, not like in DA:O)

It did that attack on me, but it didn't take nearly as much HP as it would have in Origins.

Well, on normal I thought the high dragon fight was only so long because it spawns adds and has way too much hp, just like the verratal(?) and the Arishok. It was really easy to predict it's movements, but that also counts for the afformentioned two. I think Bioware went the cheap road by giving them lots and lots of HP but not making them really dangerous, just tedious.

I found the mature dragon too hard on normal so I had to roll with casual...

If you meant the one in the bone pit, that is.

The dragon killed my Hawke with exactly that attack the first time I fought him. Just absolutely chewed him up and spat him out dead.

Without healing, that mature dragon was hard when I was pitted against it.

Yeah it would be hard without heals most bosses are hard without healing from potions/Mage. My main point was that the fact it only focuses on one player ignoring the damage dealers this made it easy to kill. If you wanted to could just round around letting the mages/archers kill it this would take long but works just the same due to rubbish ai.

I guess the bottom line is if you generally play on nightmare and know how to kite, the high dragon is laughably easy.

If you play on normal and don't kite, the high dragon is a pretty difficult boss.
