I dont know about the rest of you, but for me it always froze during this quest.  The freezing usually took place anywhere between the crazy mage's dialogue till Keran's dialogue after freeing him. 


Anyways, I finally got frusterated and just deleted the whole character and saves.  I had a suspicion that the freezing was caused do to corrupt data because it first froze during an autosave. I made a new character, turned off auto saves and just saved periodically.  The game so far has been freeze free, and I have been able to complete the quest without a hitch. 

To those who don't feel like deleting their characters because of all the time invested in it, try making a new character and just rush through to the Enemy's Amongst Us quest and see if it still freezes.  If you don't feel like starting a new character by all means wait for a patch.

I'm having the same problem. You believe its localized only to this quest? That is good, I was concerned it might be the whole game.

 I am having this problem currently. Is creating a new character the only way? Its gon take me a few days just to get back to that point.

oh my gawd.. i turned off the autosave feature but didnt delete any character.. and i've gotten further than i ever could before..

I managed to get through by spamming square and skipping the conversation. Choose no further questions and tell him to leave. Have to do it quickly.

the game still froze on me but ive gotten much further thansk to turning off auto save..

I disabled the autosave function and it still freezes almost immediately upon the start of the cut scene.

In the conversation with Keran, i have tried different things (spamming the square button, having Fenris there or not, wait 5 minutes to make my choice of response) and nothing is working... As soon as i make my choice, freeeeeeze... Patience will be necessary it's seems...

Edit: i tried the "turn off autosaves too"...

Small update: i tried bringing Anders with me when i speak with Keran (Anders unlocks a special option in the conversation) No luck!

@ Aaron: I would make a new character but i have a feeling the first patch will come rather quickly (i'm an optimist, i know...

Sorry to hear that. I guess it's not a real fix then.

I got past freezing by signing out of the PSN entirely, turning off autosave, and unequipped all my items. Sounds crazy, but it actually worked!

Aaron, I kept getting frozen at the end of bait and switch, I also noticed a lot of my freezes came when it was auto-saving. So I turned it off using my old character, but it kept freezing on me. So I decided to start a whole new character, same type of person male, rogue. It only froze on me once, in the begining when you face the ogre. I was ready to give up, but I remember that it froze on me last time and I was able to go ahead the second time. So I played it again, did some other quest before I did bait and switch. I was crossing my fingers and then it happen, I was able to finish the quest. I think Bioware should look into this auto-save, I think it corrupted the file when it froze and turned off. As everyone knows you don't turn of your playstation when it's saving. I didn't unequipped anything, and I was signed on PSN..... The only problem I see is autosave, people turn off autosave and I hate to say it, if you want to play you need to start a new charater, or wait for the patch to come out.

If you do get freezing glitch in Enemies Among Us leave that quest for later. Try and do some other quests then come back to it before Expedition quest. I had same problem where it freezes when I approach kevan so I left quest and came back later and had no problems. Just a suggestion, might not work for everyone.

This is not just a certain quest issue. Freezes are random and most people will encounter them at different times. The game is put together shoddy and you shouldn't have to do anything bizarre just to play a game. They need to fix this and stop releasing crap to the masses. Here is a better idea, how about Bioware hire me as a game tester? Guarantee this crap never happens again!

 I took everything off and crammed on the square to skip to where I could select for him to leave... selected that as fast as possible and I was able to make it through. Frustrating but it worked

I kept freezing at the main quest line Enemies Within. Actually i got a freeze on most of the main quests in Kirkwall. I decided to steer away from all the main quests. finished all the side quests. got the 50 gold and paid the dwarf. Went to Enemies within, (the floating guy) andfinished all the other main quests.
Havent had a freeze after leaving Kirkwall, now been to deep roads and back to kirkwall. still no freeze after 5 hours in kirkwall.

btw. i had autosave off.

Like many are saying I believe the issue is with Autosave. I went ahead and made a new character deleting everything I had before. I made sure Autosave was off before starting the new game and made it past the quest with not a single freeze or anything issues. I was also signed out of psn but I'm sure it was AutoSave turned on before starting new game.

I made a third character just to double test it. Autosave off, signed into PSN and the EA servers, ps3 slim. Finished this quest and more without a freeze.
