Is it just me or is Da2 allot easier than Dao as in diffuculty? I played both games on normal diffuculty and I found Dao was pretty challenging on that setting but Da2 was almost to easy. I couldn't evne beat the high Dragon or come close to it in Dao on my 2nd play thorugh ( beat him on first one ) yet in Da2 he was no challenge for one example. Also in Da2 starting early in the game my companinons seem way over powered especially the mages where they are killing multiple enemies before i can even click and attack with my shield and sword warrior. Maybe it's just me but i felt the game was way to easy on th enormal setting compared to Dao and dumbed down.

The characters are more powerful offensively but I think its balanced by how nerfed healing and potions are compared to DAO. Which isn't a bad thing considering otherwise I'd had no way to complete the endgame after killing my healer. I really wish you could give Carver or Bethany a specialization.

It's still pretty easy to beat the game on normal without your Healing mage. I did the entire ending parts of the game without a Mage healer and didn't lose even one of my main 4 from the group to a death. Restoration potions are a GODSEND in this game. 80% health and 40% mana/stamina little over 40 silver per potion make.

Also if you feel your Sword and Board Warrior was powerful, don't ever try a 2 handed Warrior if I caught a group of Enemies in a Choke Point I could kill all but the leader NPC with them barely even touching my Champion.

For the end game I just used Bethany as my healer and didn't really has to use her healing ability much at all. My 3 companions for the end game were Merrill pretty much using blood magic for the entire time, Bethany as a Ice and Fire damager with healing and Fenris as my tank.

Yes, in one of the developer diaries they pointed out that normal difficulty would be slightly easier in DA2 than in DA:O. I believe one of the developers cited that it was decided based on customer feedback and how few people actually went on to finish the original game.

What other people have said. Offense seemed to be bumped up in my favor, but having a healer seemed borderline useless for me in DA2, and that potion cooldown killed me once or twice.

As for bosses I actually had way more trouble with the Arishok than even the endgame bosses. Meredith went down easier than the Archdemon for me.

Even on casual the rock wraith and high dragon boss fights took ages and my companions had the best gear.

Yeah I agree the Arishok was the hardest boss in the game in my opinion I couldn't beat him alone with Hawke I had to use the entire team.

Same. I suppose I might have had an easier time on another class though, I hear he is especially brutal one-on-one with rogues. I just got sick of kiting him around forever waiting on my potion cooldown only to have him heal himself. >:/

DA2 Normal is supposed to be easier than DA:O Normal, but DA2 Nightmare is harder than DA:O Nightmare.

I ended up using Merrill as my damage dealing mage and made Hawke a spirit healer. With that specialization, the game seemed laughably easy on Normal. The only battle I really needed to put any thought into was with Hybris (I believe that name is right).

Oh, and the Arishok as well.
