I tried so hard to like Anders. Him being pretty awesome in Awakening and all. But Justice turning him to some mad radical zealot with a revenge boner totally killed him for me. Same with Isabela, I tried to like her, but after the end of Act II, I just wanted her dead.

I liked Anders from Awakening. Then I find out at the end of my first playthrough that hes now a mage terrorist.
I definitely shanked him in the second playthrough. He had it coming murdering that sweet old cleric.

Anders. Fairly indifferent to him in Awakening, now I can't stand him.

Anders, especially after beating the game. I really don't like that I have to use him as my healer either.

So far my least favorite is Carver followed by Anders then Fenris and Isabella.
I never liked Carver's attitude and wished I could have saved Bethany instead.
In the first game I enjoyed rogues but something is definitely off about my experience this time around, and worst is I see no reason to have more than one rogue in the party they're almost all useless for lockpicking until you stack cunning on them, but at least Varric is funny.
I have no use for two-hander warriors, they can't be respecced to tank, and I can tank myself when I play warrior.
Anders' new personality grates on my nerves.

2-Handed Warriors put out redonkulously high DPS late in the game, add that with high armor and health if geared correctly they may very well be the most powerful class in the game.
In terms of love to hate
Varric-Obviously their breakout character. Always in my party.
Dog- If they made him an actual companion he would always be in my party.
Bethany's juggs- Firm and supple, with a slight rosy coloration toward the peaks.
Aveline- Was like a big sister. Also got better with age like a big sister. Her date was adorable.
Isabella- Had funny party banter. Kinda annoying story wise and didn't like her ****tish nature, especially when she threw it back in my face during the Loose Ends quest. I mean wtf you'd sleep with the dog if you were drunk enough woman.
Anders- I actually didn't like him in Awakening, but here he sorta has a purpose. Kinda pissed they coped out on the Justice thing, I mean why did they have to become One? I ended up killing him but that was mostly for story purposes than personal feelings. His last moment felt very dramatic.
Merrill- Annoying, and played a little too straight to be funny. Her obsession was also kinda stupid, as there is no real explanation for what the Mirror can do EVER. Why would they make these if they only served as a gateway for bad stuff? She exemplifies why I hate DA elves. She talks about the great heritage of the Elves, but it just doesn't match up with what we've seen.
Fenris- Annoying, especially if you try to be helpful to him. I enjoyed killing him when he didn't take my side.
Carver- Ingrate. Seriously it's one thing for him to secretly be jealous of Hawke, but the fact that every other sentence involves him mentioning being in the PC's shadow is just sad. Hey how about you stop complaining about being in my shadow every time we talk and actually do something worth remembering.
Sebastian (This was DLC??!?!?!)- Seriously...they made this, and expect payment. Forget the preorder deal, they are currently charging money for this swill.
In comparison to the DA:O crew? I would mix and match them for the perfect group, honestly it wasn't like their weren't real stinkers in DA:O and DA:A.

Varric - I don't find him funny, and the way he keeps poking at everyone makes me want to whack him with his "Don't" sign. No, constantly "joking" at others' expense isn't "good fun," it's being an a-hole. I can't even keep Varric in the inn-- he keeps intruding on all my social calls.
Sebastian-- Can there be anything more boring than a constantly harping religious prig? I didn't see much dimension to him at all beyond his ceaseless promotion of the Maker. Just hoping I don't lose Isabela on this mage playthrough so I'm stuck with him as my rogue.

Carver. I dislike his character so much, that I might not play another mage.
Sebastian is a waste. I think if he was a warrior (tank) he might get more use, it would be nice to have another tanking option.
Anders' personality change was annoying. He was entertaining in Awakening and I had him with me all the time. And because of his actions, I'm starting to see why the templars are the way they are.

Yeh Sabastian was a waste of 7 dollars. A whole 3 minutes of voice acting for 2 quests in reused maps. Ta boot, we got a party member who is worse in every way to our likeable freebie Varric.
Kinda feeling cheated, I didn't really pay for the extra characer, I payed thinking I'd be getting new adventures, I didn't know it would be the same reused maps, and very little adventure on top of that.

Fentris - When I was recruiting him and he said something like "But here he is but a man, and sweats like any other when death approaches" I couldn't help but rolls my rolls. As soon as I was given the option to tell him to **** off, I did.
I didn't like Anders at all in Awakening, but I am enjoying his character much more in Dragon Age 2.Bahanix wrote...

Carver and Fenris. I tried to like Fenris but by the end of my play through I liked killing him He was so ungrateful and loserish and I roleplayed as someone who liked him and wanted to help him, so if that is how he treats people then glad he's dead. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Carver is a loser.
I tried to hate Merril, but she's damn loveable even when you really want to hate her. She repents and seems so genuinely sorry when you are (rightfully) mean to her, and she stuck by me at the end.
Aveline I kind of hate, but without Carver or Fenris, who the heck is going to tank?
Never used Isabella ever. She was a dirty **** and I hated looking at her stupid mole/wart/herpes.
I like Anders and Varric a lot.

Id have to say Anders and the constantly backstabbing Isabella who keeps selling everyone out for a stupid boat. Anders just changed too much and is always complaining and saying he cant do anything about his actions... yeah thats why thousands of innocents died. The characters I did like were Fenris, Varric and Avaline

Aveline. She whines about everything and then still gains enough rep to max Friend by the end of her Act2 quest.
I'm going to try to rivalmance her with this next play through and see if she doesn't wear on me so very much.
Carver... I hated him, but I thought he was a good addition. The annoying younger brother who makes horrible decisions actually felt a lot more immersive to me than cardboard cheerleader Beth.

I really, truly hated Fenris. I just couldn't stand the guy. I tried being nice, but no matter what I said the only way to get that chip off his shoulder was to brutally murder every mage I happened by in the street.
Carver drove me nuts, but he went away for a good portion of the game so I was good with it.
Anders is Fenris with a moral compass that points east instead of west. I sided with the mages right up until Anders' stunt at the end, so he made me hate the mages too. I suppose he caused more hate, but it wasn't really directed at him. I also wish he wouldn't flirt with me like that, it made me uncomfortable... I mean, it was a good direction as far as storytelling goes at least. I didn't want him to be mad, but I wasn't going to get gay with him. I should have worn a T-shirt with a picutre of a vag@#$ on it.
Isabella confused me. That's pretty much all I can say about her.
I may not like these characters, but I still believe that have a definate place within the game. Except for Fenris, I just stop talking to him after the first quest.

For Dialog/Personality, I think it would have to be... dunno, Sebastian? though that is more because he got sidelined from comming too late (even being my first stop in Year Four) I kinda like all the party members for thier personality and banter, in their own way... even Carver, though that was more of a "Love to Hate" sort of deal, especially with a snarky Hawke.
Gameplay wise, however, would be Isabela. Her Swashbuckler tree has just enough Duelist in it to get her in trouble, but not enough to accually stand toe-to-toe with whatever it is she taunted (Duelist, with the right talents, can get a base 60% bonus to Defence against the target s/he taunted, Isabela only gets that much if there is at least 4 guys surrounding her, and 35% if the enemy she taunted is the only one nearby... much less than she needs if she's expected to trade blows with anything on Hard or higher...

Anders.
He was my second favorite companion in Awakening but even then I found his views on mages/chantry annoying, but tolerable, and I recognized he wasn't the greatest friend; but the humor made up for it. In DA2 the humor was mostly gone, the voice was gone, and what was left was an even whinier mage who makes for an even worse friend.
