Also, I urge you to give Aveline a go. I wasn't to impressed with her, but when you help her a little later on (Long Road quest), I couldn't help but warm to her a little.

How is he interesting? He just whines about Mages being trapped in the Circle. And his entire argument is based on how Kirkwall treats their mages.

Fenris doesn't whine. He broods. There is a difference. What Anders does is whining. And Fenris will at least look at the argument. And it's not like he thinks all Mages should be killed or even enslaved. He just believe in the concept of the Circle. He might come across as Emo because he has a dark personality. He even says, during his joining quest, that "I'm sorry if I appear ungreatful, nothing can be further from the truth."

White Power Ranger? You realize that Toei (the guys who created Super Sentai what Power Ranger is adapted from) based the White Ranger on the White Knight Concept. Sebestian is a White Knight or maybe White Prince not a White Power Ranger. Besides, Power Rangers run around in spandexes.

Anders.

Not only is he not the likable happy go lucky Awakening companion with the corny jokes and the smart mouth, but his obsessive whining about mage oppression in his every dialogue and banter (including romance...flirt or even joke with him and he's going on about the templars like you said nothing to him). And what he does in the end just made me hate him tenfold.

I like all the other party members though (including Carver...at least he has good banter unlike Anders).

Looks like Bioware's whiny poor-me man child male human lead syndrome isn't going anytime soon (starting with Carth...going to Kaiden (though he's forgivable..to a point)...then Alistair...and now Anders). Can we please have male human leads that are *not* whiny, obsessive, snarky, or flat-out jerks please?

Ok.... characters I really loved

Varric- just...yes...definitely yes... his attitude, Bianca....going to the hanged man and hearing his stories.... heck, I loved the little mention of its been six years knowing you Hawke! I'd sit with him, a pint of ale and listen to his tales for hours.....

Aveline: The one character who I'd thought I'd hate.. I grew to love. I love how they had her be the strict guard capitan...but she felt like a real woman as well... not too mannish and not too girly girl... a real woman trying to balance a job and her love life....

Isabella: I like her... same she ran off on me I'm gonna try harder to get to know her

Merrill: Cute kid.... like Mission... with magic.... sadly, almost complete rivarly because I'm anti blood magic, and playing a mage we disagree on a LOT lol

Carver: Hated him... loved him... happy i made him a Warden

Bethany: Just getting used to her playing a THer..... seems like I'll get along a lot with her

Fenris: I like him.....his voice *swoons* had his friendship maxed on my mage run....

Anders: Never played Awakenings.... kinda broody, very pro mage.... totally WTF when he blew up the Chantry.... and I realized I helped... AND was in a romance...spared him... can't wait to see either an expansion or DAIII

Isabella = with her, you know what to expect, no hypocracy (as little as humanly possible), no false promises.

Constant, not consequent. And he doesn't constantly whine about them or even hate them. He just strongly believe they should have limitations. Think of him as "Pro Gun Control" guy. And it's not like it's an unjustified belief. He's seen the worst kind of mages and knows just how bad they can become.

I liked any party member that actually enjoyed all of my "purple" Sarcastic/Charming convo responses. That makes Isabella and Varric at the top of the list. Merril was cute though...will probably drag her along on my Mage playthrough.

I'm glad to see Carver got a lot of mentions in this thread already. I now dislike him so much that when I start a new character, I don't want to pick mage just to avoid having him around. And I take his weapon away from him right before he dies in the opening so I can sell it the first chance I get.

Terrible sibling when all he amounts to me is "Can I have your stuff?"

Bethany. Though this may be because I like Carver too much to try her on a playthrough, so those first (and only) lines of dialog in the beginning put me off. I imagine when I do my rogue/warrior playthroughs I might like her more?

On a normal basis, I waffle on Anders and Isabella. I strongly dislike both in Act 3, though both have also grown on me a little this time around.

I think Fenris was the character I least enjoyed, I feel like he was put into this game to please a certain crowd.. or to attract a certain crowd :/

I liked that he would stick by his beliefs no matter how friendly you were with him, but at the end of the day I just couldn't shake that feeling that he didn't really fit into the 'dragon age' world

I'm surprised to see so many choose Anders as there least favourite, you can't expect him to have the same outlook on life after what happened during Awakening.. maybe he did push his view onto you and your companions a little to much but I think he was well done overall

Favorite: Isabela + Varric Their chats are the best - best buds a man can asks for. Varric keeps argo on my 2h warrior while Isabela dodge tanks with her special tree, Her AoE stun attack is fantastic as well.

Merrill is an incredible tank mage if you pump her CON sky high thanks to her blood magic. Her chats are also unbelieved adorably cute. I also love how both Issy and Varric act as older brother and sister for Merrill.

Fenris....I don't know if its his constant moaning about mages or the fact he has lyrium vein things popping out, i just dont like him. He doesnt float my boat tbh

I actually like Carver, granted he does moan alot about being in his sisters shadow, but there are moments where his personality shines through, (for example when he sticks up for his sister). I found it quite sad when he fell ill with the taint and had to join the Grey Wardens.

I do miss the DA:O companions though

Fenris. I've have NEVER killed a Bioware companion, even in Baldur's Gate. But butchering this whining emo pig in DA2 was the high point of the game for me. I've never truly hated a companion before, even the ones I found annoying. ONE mage is nasty to him, so he hates ALL of them? Even though I disagree with the templars, I can at least see where they are coming from. Also, he looks like something out of a JRPG. He doesn't feel like a DA character, it feels like he stumbled in from another game. Reducing him to a stinking carcass in the last act was very satisfying. What a waste of a good voice actor.

Anders and Rogue! Hawke are pretty much tied .Anders for keeping the party alive and Rogue Hawke for being an absolute whirlwind of destruction.

I'm surprised so many people don't like Carver. He was my favorite I think. The tension and rivalry between him and Hawke is just great, and he's the more interesting sibling to play with imo.
