I would despise Fenris if he didn't have such a smexy voice. As it is, promage mage hawkette would listen to him bash her entire reason for living all day as long as he keeps up the angry kisses. Oh the angry kiss...I love it. But he is a total jerk.

I was disappointed with Anders. He was so great in Awakening and I was totally looking forward to his snark in DAII...but alas! They gave him a new meh voice actor and made him all obsessed and misguided. Even when he was supposed to be funny, which was rare :( it didn't make me laugh like in awakening because the voice actor just isn't funny. I swear, awakening anders could say the exact same line and be twice as funny.

But Isabella....I really don't like her. She is such a diseased (literally!) **** it stops being funny after the first 5 minutes. She is a selfish pirate who got the people in Kirkwall massacred and then didn't even feel remotely bad about it. It felt GOOD giving her to the Qunari. I didn't even bother dueling her. Shes not worth my time. She also won't stop flirting with my Fenris! *humph

Fenris. I've have NEVER killed a Bioware companion, even in Baldur's Gate. But butchering this whining emo pig in DA2 was the high point of the game for me. I've never truly hated a companion before, even the ones I found annoying. ONE mage is nasty to him, so he hates ALL of them? Even though I disagree with the templars, I can at least see where they are coming from. Also, he looks like something out of a JRPG. He doesn't feel like a DA character, it feels like he stumbled in from another game. Reducing him to a stinking carcass in the last act was very satisfying. What a waste of a good voice actor.

Also Sebastian. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, traitor.

how could you have killed Fenris but not Zevran? Zev is Fenris on extacy

That's kind of the point.  The main point against Fenris is the brooding, moping, whining, whatever you want to call it.  Zev had a terrible life and more or less moved on, Fenris had a terrible life and is slowly choking to death on his own bile.  Actually kind of why I enjoy the character, offers another side of the coin.

My least favourite character would have to be Merril; mainly because I remember how she used to be in DA:O.  Ignoring the new look (actually enjoy the new look) and sudden change in accent (meh) what the hell happened to her?  Did a halla kick her in the head a few times she's become a flipping child?

A close second is Anders; I'm sorry Anders I am not going to release the mages who's leader just tried to kill us with blood magic, and I'm certainly not going to murder a good man for their sake.

I disliked Sebastian because he kept on babling about the chantry and the maker.
I disliked Bethany because she lacked personality, i found her to be dull and plain, i also disliked Carver in the beginning but eventually (just before he became a warden) he started to grow on me.
I liked Anders eventhough i liked him better in awakenings, i liked Avaline because of her moral strenght and virtue.
I really liked Merril and chose her as my romance option, i liked Fenris because he is a lyrium inscripted reaver with a vengeance.

FENRIS. Jeez i just want to bash my head in everytime that skinny emo start whining in that deep rash voice of his. I only ever used him for his recruit mission, then spoke a few times.xD

And never returned.

I agree all the "men" in this game except Hawk were ****** whiners! In DA:3 bring back the real men. The women were all awesome even though Aveline is a biker ****** in denial but she is still cool. Merril reminds me of my old roomate Jocelyn, crazy as hell but still adorable. Isabella she's a pirate what did you expect? She's sexy as hell but still a pirate. She's too awesome, too deadly not to keep in the party. Carver was a bastard that I wish Hawk would have bent over his knee and spank or at least be punched. Anders was such a whine a**. He needed to get over himself. Fenris need more testosterone. Way too emo. Bethaney was a sweet woman and get nuke. Varric was a great all around character and my most durable too.

I have a few, in the order of least favorite to extremely least favorite:

Merrill- the word ditsy does not describe her, uncomfortable awkwardness is more like it. I guess it has to do with the fact that it's not what I remembered from DA:O

Ander- backstabbing, heartless, ungrateful piece of...stomp my heart it's it's worthless

Carver- like what Hawke said, the act of least favorite child has gotten reallllll old

Haha, I was thinking the same EXACT thing at Act 3. :D After hearing Fenris's 50th complaint, I was like, "Hm. You know, pretty much every character in this game has some sort of baggage... most of which I don't care to deal with." I was actually desperately missing Alistair. He was such a bro in DAO. I would joke around with him and he would joke around, even in the worst of situations. With DA2 characters, it's all moaning and groaning and YELLING AND BI***ING. When Alistair made his cameo appearance, I was begging for him to stay.

As for my least favorite character, that award goes to Fenris. Good God did he ****** me off. It wasn't even the fact that he hated mages, despite how my Hawke was a mage. He was an all around unlikeable character. Every choice I made elicited some sort of bratty, whiney complaint from him. The worst was when I told him not to kill his sister, then in the very next quest, when I told Charade to visit Gamlen, Fenris says something along the lines of, "Family is everything." Wow, Bioware, way to be inconsi- I mean wow, Fenris, way to be a hypocrite.

Isabela was a close second. If she wasn't dealing beastly damage on a second-by-second basis, I would have told the Arishok to hunt her down. In one of her conversations with Merrill, she says that the number of men she's been with isn't nearly as high as some people think, yet she's slept with Fenris and has a quicky with Zevran after his quest.

Oh, and Sebastian. I didn't hate him, but when he threatened to bring the entire Starkhaven army on Kirkwall, I got really excited. I just wanted to say something like, "Yeah, I'll look forward to slaughtering an entire army." If Bioware doesn't follow that up, I will be extremely disappointed.

Fenris - Neutral. He does kind of wine a lot and hates mages because he was a victim of one, but doesn't quite as annoying as he could be. He's rarely in my group though, only when i need a full powerhouse which is me/anders/aveline/fenris - helps with enemies such as high dragon.

Isabella - One of my favorites. People like to say that she's a back stabber. Ran off with a relic. Let her enemy go away for a ship. Betrayed you for a ship in fade etc. Guess what? She is a PIRATE! What do you think for example Jack Sparrow would do if he was in her position? Same exact thing. She is a bit unpredictable. She is a pirate, but she has some good in her. She didn't cheat on me with zevran although later on i've cheated on her with Merill hah. Horrible me.

Anders - I think Bioware changed him to show how time changes one. Also, since he had Justice in him - it changed him as well as he changed Justice. The fact that he did what he did...I won't say wether it was a right thing to do or not. To me it may not be, to him - perhaps it does seem like the only way. As a person..well, he does cry a bit TOO much, and with time it becomes annoying. I have to take him with me however which kind of sucks.

Varrik - well...he's just awesome. Won't even bother explaining.

Merril - She's cute when she babbles lol. It's just this one character that's never annoyed me. I rarely take her with me in groups though for I don't like her abilities.

Aveline - I thought i wouldn't like her at first, but she does have my respect for how she is. Although i would never have my character be with her.

Sebastian - barely ever take him to my group. I'm very neutral to him. Can't say i like him, can't say i don't. He's just there.

Bethany - Again, can't say much about her. She was something of "my little sister". She does have a bit of a one dimensional personality but how do you expect your sibling to behave when they're with you? They are what they are. Too bad she died in my playthrough. I'll have a chance to find out a bit more about her in my next one.

Carver - haven't been able to play with him at all for he died at the beginning of my play through .

Sebastian. I would uninstall Exiled Prince on my mage canon run if I could work out how to do it. He was ok during the game, but at the end ... he can stick it.

My favourite party was Anders, Aveline and Varric. Epic win with my mage.

Having beat the game now here is my take:

Well Done Characters:

Isabella: She is exactly the type of girl Im attracted to in real life. Super hot and unobtainable. But I managed to win her over with humor and not being too serious, something I hope to do someday to a real life Isabella.

Fenris: Awesome character. Why? Because I loved to hate him. Thats a sign of a character well done. He is a ****** and I enjoyed killing him.

Varric: This guy was my best friend. And it felt like he always had my back.

Worst Characters:

Sebastian: This guy really didnt incite much emotion in me. He was too religious, and not exciting in any way. I wouldnt get along with him in real life.

Not going to count the siblings; they're not full companions anyway.

Mine would have to be Aveline.  That's not to say she isn't an effective character.  Well-realized, fully fleshed out an all that.  I just don't find her very interesting, and don't enjoy her interactions with Hawke or the party more than any other companions'.

Sebastian would be somewhat distant runner-up.  Same deal, he's got a backstory and believable motives and whatnot, but the whole Chantry thing is a bit dry after a while.  Gets bonus points for his banter with Anders.

Everyone else is pretty great.  Favorite would be a tough call between Fenris and Merrill.  Fenris tends to brood, that's for sure, but he actually has a pretty good reason to hate mages.  It's not just his old master that fuels his prejudice, it's his entire life on the bottom rung of the magiocracy of the Imperium.  It's refreshing to have party members get legitimately pissed at each other, while Origins just had the snarky put-downs and dirty jokes of Morrigan/Alistair or Oghren/everyone.  Merrill, obviously, is adorable and hilarious and eccentric.

Anders.. For sure.. Considering how much I loved him in Awkenings..I was so sad when they ruined him in DA2.. Now he just complains about Templars..

Carver is such an emo brat so I don't use him.

Sebastian complains about mages..

Fenris complains about mages..

Merrill, Isabella, Verric and Aveline doesn't complain that much about anything as far as I know..

Why did Bioware make almost every male character into a complaining b****ch???

Its hard to hate any of them, do their quests and you'll learn why they do the things they do.
Whilst I still havent started that Mage playthrough so I cant give my opinion on Carver Id say Anders comes close, man is such a whiny hypocrite and to be honest by the end of act 3 he' no better then Orsino or Meredith.

Can't really pick one.

Anders: cocky, fake sense of justice, mindless action on the end-game.
Carver: always complaining and jealous of me.
Fenris: wannabe badass, but fails, I plainly don't like him.

So... Merrill all the way <3:O

Am I the only one who absolutely hated Aveline? Maybe it's because I prefer to be a bit more underhanded than she likes, but her incessant whining about everything I did annoyed me to no end. The worst was when my character gave her some shield as a gift, and she whined about how I sold Wesley's shield. COME ON. Her hypocritical sentiment about moving on from Wesley was apparently completely forgotten when it comes to a gift. Oh, and then she marries a fellow member of the guard. Nice.

Just the way she looks ticked me off too. I could go off all day about how much I hate her.

Fenris and Anders were pretty whiny too, actually. I think by the end of the game I got so fed up with all my companions that I was running around with Hawke, Isabela, and Varric only. Varric was probably my favorite, and Isabela I didn't really mind, her backstabbing self-preservation was all right in my book.

The only ones I took to were Aveline and Varric, all of the others were pretty one-dimensional. I liked Anders to begin with, romanced him, but I don't think they gave us enough opportunities to flesh out our interactions in this game. I enjoyed Alastair's "licking lamp-posts in winter" dialogues, but having Anders talk about drowning us in blood to protect me, yaddah yaddah, and attaching himself to my face after I selected the flirt option all of 3-4 times was poorly implemented. Dialogue in the mansion was diabolical, too. Things should only be allowed to get that torrid with a proper buildup - I appreciate we're supposed to use our imaginations as to what happened in the interim years but still. Disappointing.

How? When? Got in on youtube? I'd like to see that...

I like Fenris. It is my LI.
I like them all. Maybe Sebastian is not so much fun (boring as hell) but the diversity is the key.

Fenris is much better in act two and the best figther in the game.
It is much different when you have freindship with him, and you don't need to agree with him about mages. Just kill the slavers it is enough ( I hate slavers:)))).

Varric - no need to say anything. Great. Aveline as well.
Anders could be more complex.
Merril is amazing. I have her at 100 rival, but adore her:)))
Isabela - my best buddy.
Carver - i need to say, I liked him too... ( didn't have Bethany, I'm mage, always:)))

I like them dislike themselves and the banter between them. Want them all. :innocent:

I like all of the companions, Bioware did a great job on them, they are more deep, complicated and easy to get emotionally attached to them. Well maybe I didn't like Carver very much but only because he treated me badly ;)
I have to say it's courious how differently people react to Anders, I loved him, had a crush on him:))) the way his personality has changed is genious, awesome work. I'm a Jennifer Hepler's fan for life:)!
