1) No Tactical Camera: I'm playing as Mage and I need to be able to target my AoE spells to hit the maximum number of enemies. It isn't too bad outside, but when you get inside a building and try to corral enemies into a corridor or doorway and it's completely useless. I can't see anything beyond my own character and the spell effects swirling around him. I have spent a good deal of time looking at the ceilings, as I have no choice in some of the tiny rooms, and so far the work they did on them was a complete waste of time compared to the advantages being able to zoom out a decent distance in all evironments. It's not really a big deal on Casual/Normal as the game is pretty easy.
2) Waves of Enemies: It's getting tedious to think I've wiped out a group of enemies only to find 4-5 waves more spawn. Often right on top of me, causing my ranged allies to run around like idiots. It is almost as bad as the pop up cover in Mass Effect 2. There are also a lot of lieutenants compared to normal foes, though that might be due to playing on hard. I've actually made a couple of fights in larger environs trivial by running away and not having to worry about enemies spawing on top of me.
3) Combat as a Mage: It has hardly changed since DA:O in hard fights I spend a lot of time running around and waiting for mana to regen. Frankly the very start of the game makes it seem amazing and then steals it away from you, and I'm stuck fighting an Ogre in exactly the same way I did in Ostagar in DA:O (running around in circle waiting for mana to regain, casting a single spell and then rinse and repeat for 5-10 minutes depending on your spell selection). I'd also of prefered it that if I was knocked back my character didn't give up casting his spell. If I want to knock the enemies away from me I have to spam the button and hope it fires, at least until I can get Force Mage and get the ability to give me masses of fortitude.
4) Lack of Information: I can turn on damage numbers, stun messages etc... but there is still a general lack of information about stats. For example I'm not sure what the second number under Cunning is for, if a Mage can critical with spells if I increase my Dex. Also why isn't there a tooltip showing what the sustained abilites in the bottom right do? Why do I have to switch to the character that cast/used that spell/ability to see what the effect is? Some of my characters seem to have the same Dex but one has 4% crit the other 14% or something and I can't work out why, there are no abilites running. Maybe I've missed something.
5) Still Poor/Useless Abilites/Spells: The game has removed quite a few spells, and combined some into upgrades, but there are still abilities/spells that are IMO largely useless.
6) Tactics: Still largely useless for advanced abilities/spells without spend ages tweaking the order and setting up some more advanced triggers for abilites/spells. Too much effort for too little effect. I'm far better turning them all off and doing it all manually, which is verging on a nightmare with the current camera when in confined enviroments.
7) General UI Problems: I'm finding it difficult to click on some enemies and items. Mousing over the actual enemy/book/item on the screen doesn't always bring up the select cursor. I have to press TAB to see the text and arrow to see where I have to move the mouse to select the object (except in tight areas where I'm forever selecting allies/enemies when I'm trying to move or target an AoE ability/spell). It's clearly been setup for a controller to flick between items/enemies easily and it doesn't work that well with an actual mouse when it should be easier. Journal, Quest sections and several others have every bland backgrounds compared to DA:O. I not a fan of the current inventory either but to be honest it has been a long time since I played Origins so I'm not sure if I liked it in that game.
I could come up with some more but I can't think of any more at the moment, and I haven't tried any crafting yet. I would say I like the story so far, there are some decent characters. Overall it is a good game, but it's still down on DA:O. Flame away.
