How do I tell the level/rank of a rune?

Runes themselves do not have levels/ranks, instead they have a greater effect the higher the level of the item you put them in. For example, Bianca levels up with Varris, so if you put a rune in her and check it after a couple levels, you'll see the rune has become more powerful with Bianca.

Ah, that explains it then. I was wondering why the fire rune in Bianca added more damage to it than to my mage staff.
