High dragon

I am playing as 2H warrior(vanguard, reaver and templar spec). Had Varric for aggro control and DPS, Anders for buffs and heals and Sebastian for DPS. I made sure to keep everyone at max range from the dragon with only me in Melee. I dodged the melee attacks and fire breath. When he flew up to the ledge I just soaked the fireballs and let anders take care of it while I focused on adds. Focused on the dragons themselves first and just let varric shift aggro of the dragonlings to me where they would get killed by my AE attacks. When the 2 dragons came out I made sure to let my HP drop to about 50% and hit cleave+sac frenzy and hit my burst and killed both nearly instantly. Had Sebastian use guardian angel a few times as he pulled aggro and used second wind and restoration potions to restore some stam but overall quite easy took I'd say about 5-10 minutes.

I just straight up tanked him with elemental aegis and shield defence up, got shield + heals from Anders, while the archers did there pewpew thing
When all the little dragonlings came I gathered everyone up for the taunt, and then bombed them all with double hail of arrows
took a while to actually kill the boss, and I nearly ran out of lyrium potions (was scrambling on the corpses for more) but it was fairly easy, Anders Panacea was enough to keep Varric/Seb alive from the flame bombs the dragon was doing from the high spot

Oh, and to reply to the poster immediately above me, it helps to have Revive on at least 1 character. I had 2, with Mage Hawke as a Spirit Healer and Ander with Panacea. Each mage dies once in the fight, but the other was able to bring them back from the brink. Having revive isn't absolutely necessary, since both deaths were from carelessness on my part, but it makes it easier. Oh, and I had lots and lots of Elfroot potions.
Good luck!

That's correct sir. So make sure he doesn't get hit twice without healing himself.AsaTJ wrote...
How did you keep Anders alive? Before I found out about the blind spot, he was getting 2-shot by those fireballs.
Also the faster you are to kill the little tykes the less you'd have to deal with the fireballs.

I thought the High dragon at the Bone pit was far harder then the one in Origins. It took me about an hour to beat the High Dragon in DA2. Thank the Maker for Aveline's tanking ability.XOGHunter246 wrote...

The High Dragon in this game is far more easier more space all you have to do is move the opposite way when it flys in air move up attack when it flys again move down attack as long as you has potions it very easy on any difficulty. I did beat it at level 19 though. Might be slightly harder to do this as a warrior though but that whats potions are for and a mage. Fireballs did hardly any damage on me with the resist I was wearing and Fenris and Varrick only killed Anders as he had no good fire resist

Where is the high dragon? Why can't i find it?
It happens if you talk to Hubert in Hightown and take up the offer on co-owning a mine with him. When you do, a quest called Mine Massacre automatically shows up when you visit the Bone Pit.
But yeah, the High Dragon was a little bit more of a challenge here. In DA:O, it was easy to have a tank taunt and trap her in the ruin so that your ranged characters can snipe away. In DA2, she goes up a platform and summons mobs of dragonlings/dragons to wipe your party. When she did that, I had Varric/Anders do some AOE damage while Fenris tanked.

Tactics weren't all that involved, just set them up to cast stuff (set the entropy tree spells for elite or higher and any archer or mage aoe for groups of 3 or 4+). Slotted fire resist runes for everyone, but had to use 3 for hawke because the values on his gear are pretty weak compared to what the companions get for slotting a rune. Hawke ended up with something like 79% fire resist and the rest had 90%. So, fireballs were not a problem. I just stood there not trying to dodge them or anything because Anders spirit healer aura healed right through them instantly.
The only death was my dog, which I didn't bother resummoning. Hawke had to use 3 health pots because of Anders cooldown timers and it would have ended up being 5 or 6 but I have fully upgraded reaver devour. I didn't have to switch to control any other party member at all, Hawke rarely lost aggro and when he did it was easy to get back by using abilities (also made sure to keep him facing the dragon away so sebastian got flanking bonus). The adds phase was never a problem and I didn't use any strategy for them, unless you count running around lol'ing as I smashed stuff a "strategy." The weapon I used was Bloom with a devastate rune and a +crit rune. I might have been able to shave off a minute or so if I had merril using a staff with cold damage (for the elemental weapons buff), but as it was she was using the staff from the forbidden knowledge quest for blood magic benefits (and the staff is FIRE, lol). I probably could have found a cheap ice staff to use for the fight but I just couldn't bother because Community was coming on in 15 minutes and I have a hard-on for Britta (i.e. I didn't want to waste any more time so I just went for it).
As you can tell from my writing, I'm not a very talented gamer (since I can't even bother to remember the names of some of the talents), so if I can do the fight on Hard with relatively little expenditure (rune costs and maker's respec pots) then you probably can too.
Happy dragon hunting!

It's tank and spank until he goes on his cliff, which should happen in a few seconds, as I'm 99% sure it's percentage based since he hopped on up there after 10 seconds of combat.
For the first wave of adds just tank them all and have your squishies drink a pot every 2nd fireball that hits them. He comes back down, should be back up in another 10 seconds.
Second wave of adds just kill the big dragon first, he should be dead in 5 or so seconds. Kill little adds, boss back down, back up in 10 seconds.
Third wave of adds, do the same thing as the second wave. You get 2 dragons this time, but they should be dying quick.
Annnnd boss dead in 2 or 3 minutes.

Between the duel with the Arishok and the High Dragon my Hawke needs a medal for running in circles.

Haha, me too, I really didn't feel the need for a Healer in this battle

We are talking the High Dragon in Bone Pit mines, the second one. All other Dragons where very easy in normal difficulty.
