Well, i have killed this damn dragon on hard difficulty without any fire res.runes. ( my char had 50% magic res from templar tree and anders was giving about 20% to all res buf) My group was me war dps aveline tank, anders healer+ frost dps and wanding, isabella the freak dps. Firstly, the whole Fire balls at add phase directly hit to me. Aveline shielded isabella for damage trans so she could tank mature dragons at add phase ( when there is 3 ) The key is always cheking positions of the enemy and your party. Heal with anders and also i had 100% damage reduction shield. The fight lasted about 20 min. isabella died 2 times and ressed 1 time, aveline died 1 time and ressed. About 5 health potion ( the 1 also gives stamina/mana) and 2 ,the 1 automaticaly resses, potion is used. Damn good fight on hard difficulty. Paying for runes to have full ressi is dull in my opin.

well let me see here....Level 16 2H warrior (32 Strength, not that it probably matters) and have my skills based around 2H and Vanguard, with 1-2 points in berzerker, reaver and warmonger. usually i take Aveline, Isabella and Merrill with me, but i feel like they've done nothing damage wise. Aveline is presumebly my tank in the group, anders seems to have more of a mage/healer approach to him and im think varric because of the allocations of skills i gave him. the more damage dealt, the less damage taken, the better.

For me it was difficult on Nightmare, but I actually and finally killed the wyvern and the three High Dragons in total in DA 2. I died a couple of times but it was awesome. My strategy was, never go face up front with any of them. Hit them from the back. Whenever they turn to face you, keep getting in back of them as you hit them. Works every time.

As far as battling the Knight Commander, just hit her until her red line is down, she'll jump to the stoop where she changes, then when she comes back down hit her, and hit her hard. But, if you see her stop moving, get out of the way that's when she starts the twirl of her blade. You dodge it. Once she stops step back in and take her out. Several times it'll take to do that, then you have to fight smaller statues also.
That's when the lyrium-embued sword takes her out. Just like it did Bartrand.
