Deactivate tactic broken?

So I made a thread over on the other forums but that got me nowhere due to a lack of replies.

I've been trying to get Shale to deactivate Stone Aura after combat has finished so I don't have to micromanage her as much, but regardless of what I try she wont turn it off using tactics.

She runs in and turns it on perfectly fine (and in great locations) all by herself simply by using Target: Nearest Enemy -> Activate: Stone Aura, but whenever I try "Self: insert anything here -> Deactivate: Stone Aura" she refuses to turn it off.

Anyone know if this is a problem with the "Deactivate" tactic and sustained abilitys or just Shale in general? OR if maybe there's a work around? :huh:

I play on the 360 version.

/Sextuplebump Having the exact same issue with trying to deactivate Spider Shape. I want to use a tactics where Morrigan goes Spidershape with <10%mana and Deactivates when >=25% mana but it doesn't work.



Even if you put a completely empty custom tactics sheet with nothing except Self Any Deactivate SpiderShape then switch Morrigan into spider then select another character she will never shapeshift back.



On the PC btw

Sorry for slow reply, the laptop I was using went and died on me the other day so I wasn't able to check the forums. lol

I'm playing on the 360 version, as stated at the end of the first post, so I can't post a screenshot since I have no recording device.

I've tried using multiple types of self -> deactivate tactics but this is the one I tried first because I thought it would surely work:
Enemy: Any -> Activate: Stone Aura
Self: Surrounded By No Enemy -> Deactivate: Stone Aura
Using custom tactics screen obviously. ^

Had no luck with anything during my 2h warriors 60 hour+ play through.

N' yea, I noticed it was in the wrong forum section (PC not 360) about a day ago but I believe it's probably a game issue and not just a version issue. lols

As far as I know, the tactics does not work when not in combat, and since we want these things to happen once combat is finished, they never happen before engaging in combat again. It gets a bit annoying when you have made your companions activate stuff that causes them to freeze. Shale is a prime example of this. While it's minor, I also wish I could script my companion (Leliana in my case) to only summon a Wolf pet (Ranger) if there's no other pet active. Sometimes I want to just make her call up the Spider/Bear instead and do so manually, and shortly after, she'll decide to summon up Wolf if I stop controlling her. Oh, and while mentioning Ranger, I love the fact that I can actually set the pets to do abilities that is hidden from their action bars, like Overwhelm, by clicking on the "New tactics slots available" message that pops up on summoning. But it won't stay saved when they are re-summoned :-( --then again, I guess it might be a bug that they have access to all the other abilities, doing it that way.

Ah, but if tactics didn't work outside of combat then your toons wouldn't buff themselves with the abilitys you set using the Self: Any -> Activate: etc tactic such as flame weapons and other sustained abilitys when they aren't in combat.



So yea, I'm pretty sure tactics are always active. ;p

Seeing as this is a problem on both versions I would of expected more responses to this thread...



I don't suppose PC version got it fixed in their patch or something did they? I'd like to see it fixed in the upcoming 360s patch.

That's weird... I use it too (although manually, not with tactics) and Shale automatically turns it off after the battle - that being when I start moving after it.

Is this on PC? Perhaps it was fixed in the PC patch, I posted this a fair while ago (in the wrong section lol).

So you're saying that the deactive tactic works perfectly fine for you on the PC? Because this certainly wasn't the case for Ringosis a month ago. :whistle:


How about instead of trying to send me to the 360 section you actually check if your game works the way it's intended too. ;)


Besides... I assume a Mod would move this to the 360 section should the problem not occur on both versions of the game, my main reason for continuing to post is to raise awareness in general and try to get some answers/get it fixed. -_-


I think a month of waiting for near any kind of response whatsoever is pretty effing fail on everybody elses behalf though. <_<
