I'd like to start my Insanity run for the trophy by importing my character doing NG+, but i've read that none of your stuff carries over like it should(?)

any word on when a fix for this will be coming out?

Only the skill points for Shepard and the team get carried over.
I want my weapons to carry over too. I just want to play my game again on normal and be a BADASS!

IF the PS3 is like the Xbox version, then NO the upgrades do NOT carry forward. NG+, your talent points and heavy weapons DO, BUT in the med bay you only get your original pistol (then the grenade launcher). Shepard's level 30, with NO upgrades (damage, cool down, no Kassa Locus) and enemies are level 35 with armor. Heavy weapons are NOT available until you are on the Normandy.
Best way (with Xbox) for ME2 Insanity is to start out with a ME1 level 60 Import = level 5; oh wait PS3 users can't do that. So you are stuck with level 1 Shepard and level 6 enemies, MUCH easier to start out with than Shepard level 30 VS enemies level 35. I tried the NG+ and it is nearly impossible (for me) to do, so I started with a basic new Shepard.

The armor Shepard is wearing before you import him will be transerred. I have found the DLC equipmet to be a life saver on highr difficulty ifonly because they have better stats than normal in game equipment you start with. Collector Riffle for early game win :)

I have all of the DLC, what would you say is the best armour to wear on insanity? maybe the collector armour for 20% HP?

Depends on your play style... I was an infiltrator and went with full kestrel, seemed to work pretty well.

Kestrel armor has the best stats in the game, doesn't depend on your play style. It has multiple bonuses per piece that are higher than all the other armors in the game.

Given BioWare's past record is post game support (patches wise) I won't hold my breath on it. There are still issues on the 360 version they haven't fixed.

They should fix this problem as well as the voice over problem. I just want my geth assault riffle, I dont like the collector riffle seems a little weak compared to the geth riffle.

You wrong. In X360 version of ME2 - all weapons(not only heavy) and all obtained armor transffering in NG+

In the description of importing your ME2 character (ng+) is states all weapons and armor as well as lvl are imported. I did insanity on ng+ with a soldier, the worst things to fight were the scions, it would have been much easier with the Widow from my first play through, but the modified assault rifle you get from the collector ship helped a lot.
