Kotaku compared them to "two mailboxes clanging together" and I think that's a bit of an insult to mailboxes. The actual sex scenes seem to be on a downward slope. ME1 was actually pretty good - all flash of bum and shadows - certainly not erotic, but at least interesting. DAO went a little overboard with the soaring music and roaring fire, but at least it wasn't embarressing to watch. ME2 was all over the place, but they weren't as uniformly awful as this game.

Speak for yourself, the Fenris/Lady Hawke scene gave me the vapours. I like how Mike Laidlaw described it -- more sexy, less sex.

But I'm a girl so who knows.

Well I've only seen one so far in my single play through, but the Merrill scene honestly didn't look bad to me. It was very sweet.

This. I really liked Fenris and Lady Hawke scenes. Of course it's the only LI I've play through so far.

The Anders first kiss was better to me than the sex scene.

Speak for yourself!

The Anders kiss scene was the sexiest thing ever; it even beat out the ME1 kiss/sex scene for me.  So squee.

I actually think the scenes are a great improvement over Origins, which looked ridiculous at time. I've only done Anders' romance so far, but his kiss was very steamy and the fade to black for the actual romance was tasteful and sweet, in perfect keeping with his character up to that point.

I kinda liked Anders' boots dangling of the edge of the bed, but it would have been nice if he had his shirt off for the talking afterwards. Was he afraid Hawke would see his collarbone or something?

Sometimes less is more...  as in less clothes off = a better scene.  DA:O tried to split the difference with its underwear-clad lovers, and quite frankly it just looked silly.  I have no complaints about what they did this time around.

They also personalized things a little more this time around.  An example is Isabella's sudden removal of her hitherto unseen third knife, which I found rather amusing.

Right, I agree with you there. Origins had a lot of like, looking at eachother in underware and such and just this very odd montage of movements.

While I didn't do the Anders scene I did do the Merrill LI. And she basically kissed hawke, led him to the bed where they kissed more and then it faded to black. They fade back and they're in the underware. I mean that was a lot less awkward to me than the Origins scene to be honest. It seemed well done, tasteful, and sweet.

As Gaider said sexier with less sex. I couldn't agree with him more here.

If we're talking about the actual animations themselves, yeah, it's crappy. But I didn't buy the game for porn.

Working within the engine itself, I think they did a great job of conveying the scenes I encountered. throwing Isabela's knifes around the place in a heated, in the moment, "**** it come here" fashion was perfect for that scene. Merril, on the other hand ,was sweet and finished with Hawke mindlessly rubbing her arm in sentimental fashion, like good cuddlers do.

Sure, it's nothing to get "excited" over in terms of visual quality, but if that's what you're looking for, you have the internet.

<3 Agreed. I just wish that the Fenris scene could have had them crawling onto the bed together like the other romances.

I think during on of the interview, Mike described the scene in DAII is more like 'the classic 80's'.

I like it.

I don't think there was crawling involved.  More like pushing and throwing into bed.

Lol. yup, and I would've loved to see just a bit of it. :D Seems a bit unfair that all the other couples showed first kissing and then them ending up on the bed somehow, but for Fenris it was just kissing and a fade to black.

I kinda liked Anders' boots dangling of the edge of the bed, but it
would have been nice if he had his shirt off for the talking afterwards.
Was he afraid Hawke would see his collarbone or something?

This.  The "I will fully dress before engaging in post-coitus murmurs" thing was very O.o

Heheh. It's why the Fenris scene was awesome. "Oh phew, I woke up with my clothes off! At least he's actually standing up as if he's been up for ages."

My personal rundown of the 'sex' scenes in the Bioware games i've played will be spoken upon here.
I also want to say, that as a roleplayer and story/concept writer, that sex/sexual/sexi scenes are or at lease should be created around the persona of those involved. I will prefecate that I will leave out the romances that I did not participate in.

It surprisingly takes alot of depth and thought to create scenes, and even moreso those that are sexual in nature to not only reflect the personas of those involved but also ones that touch the observer (you the gamer) in a way that they feel something while watching it. Now, i'm not talking about getting all excited over the sexual voyerism of it, but the insight and heartfelt emotion one experiences when they see something that touches or moves them.

ME1:
FShep ~ Liara
(Yes i'm biased in this one)
- This scene was very well put together.
- Liara's more unsuradness of herself (due to lack of human exposure) and emotional hesitance (due to being a chaste virgin) coupled with my FShep's maturity, understanding, and Paragonal persona made this scene on point. It was very loving, sweet, sexi along with just enough skin flash to heighten the visual aspect coupled with the choice of music was surperb.

MShep ~ Chief Williams
- This scene was also done very well.
- Chief Williams is a bit saucy, flirty, and level-headed. She had to be because of raising her sisters and her father always being out on deployment, which in turn shows in her discipline, self-assuridness and dedication. The voice actress also brought that across in her accentuation of words and inflections.
- The scene between them was a bit more risque, and it should have been. Ashley is a bit more naughty and playful. This shows in the scene and the afterglow verbage between them. Music was good as well, no conflicts.

ME2
FShep ~ Kelly
- This scene was good.
- Kelly is, like Chief Williams, a bit playful and flirty, but not so saucy; she is more reserved and observant like a good psy-war specialist. So it was unsurprising to see her doing a little sexi dance for her favourite CMDR. The feeding of fish also gives a sweetness acpect to their relationship. Finally, the snuggling on their bed cinched it just enough to get ones mind working upon other possibilities.

MShep ~ Tali
- The buildup to this scene was more interesting than the actual act itself.
It is shown how much she was willing to not only put herself  at risk, not just emotionally vulnerable but physical as well to be with Shepard. She could possibly have died from taking off her helmet, not to mention from the 'physical' contact that enevitably ensued from intercourse. Tali was also, like Liara, a chaste virgin, and as it being her first time, it was made apparent her hesitation, but also her willingness to go to the great lengths necessary to be with him.
- The end result was finally the last barrier between them removed, her helmet taken off, by him, then all the pent up emotion that Tali was feeling for him exploded with her pushing him onto the bed and pouncing him.

FShep ~ The Consort
The scene while small, showed a glimpse of the passion involved with Shep and herself. She was obviously good at her craft, but albet it was the first experience Shep had with an Asari, and it was apparently memorable to not only Shep but the Consort as well, judging from what was shown in the scene.

DAO:
FWarden ~ Leliana
Leliana is a frisky little thing, coupled with the francais accent and her giddy love of pretty and cute things makes her a joy to romance. Not only that, but she is no pushover being an excellent Bard. The scene was sweet, showing off a little skin but it was moreso her buildup connection of really having only the FWarden as truly her only friend now lover that made the scene. Details are very important as they can make or break things, especially 'love' scenes. Le Le also has an affinity for Elves, which was perfect considering one of my main wardens was a female elven dual sword weilding duelist.

MWarden ~ Morrigan
Morrigan is a unique personality. So ensorcelled with the notion that to protect herself from emotional 'weakness' that she must value survival and power to attempt to control something that can never be, which is love. Her mother taught her this young, and as she grew up that glimmer of the girl with the golden mirror faded to but a dim light, yet it remained, tucked away, dark and lonely as she truly was. However, Morrigan may not be the most socially acceptable person, but her intellect and quick wit is undenyable strong.

- There is not alot to mention about the minor one-night stand with Isabella.

Have to disagree with you there.  The scene is short, but well done imo - at least for MHawke (I'm assuming FHawke is the same).  Hawke removes her two daggers from her back, the two fall backwards into Hawke's bed (note who's on top...)...  and then there's a quick pause in the action while Isabella removes a third dagger that she's got hidden away and tosses it to the side.

:P

Also, you can have a conversation in Act 2 with your mother that suggests Isabella is a regular visitor.  It's the same conversation in which your mother indicates that she might start courting again.
