I haven’t found anyone reporting this glitch yet. If it has already then I apologize for the failure of my Internet-fu.
Details:
A glitch occurred three times so far when I cannot click on any intractable object anymore. I can’t click on an enemy to attack, can’t click on a door to exit an area, can’t click on a NPC to talk, you get the idea.
The areas where this happened so far were:
-The starting exaggerated intro fight
-The brother in hightown
-Gamlen’s house
I haven’t discerned any direct cause for it, nor can I readily reproduce this glitch. The only thing I know for sure was universal for all three occurrences was that I was holding the “highlight intractable objects”-button when the glitch occurred.
Reloading a save doesn’t fix it. Exiting the game and restarting does.
Standard info stuff:
Game version v1.00
No mods used.
OS: WinXP, SP3
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 620
RAM: 2 GB
GPU: AMD HD 3800
Cannot click on intractable objects.

I've had this problem only once while in the Hightown Chantry, as you said, I had to restart the game in order to fix the issue. No idea what caused it though..

Just happened another 2 times. By the looks of it this glitch is triggered by near-constant use of the hightlight items button.

Happens to me often. Switch focus to a companion, then back to yourself. Works for me.

This is what has worked for me. I've noticed that when it happens the character portrait of the character I am controlling is sort of greyed out. Clicking on the character portrait or on another and then back has worked for me in all situations.
One possibility is that we are accidentally hitting the caps lock key just below the tab key. That turns shift on, and you use shift and then hit f1-f4 to choose multiple characters. Could be the UI is waiting for you to select.

I changed my hotkey to Z to highlight, and I never use f1-f4. So I doubt thats the cause. Its probably the what was mentioned before, seeing as how I hold down Z ALOT when running around. Occationally I'll lift it up for a second, or during combat.

Ah, another holds-down-the-z-key-constantly-in-DA-games. We should start a club, or something. I'll try your switch-controlled-character-fix the next time it happens, thanks.Prosthetics511 wrote...

I'm having this too, my use nearest object and highlight object are bound to [ and ] respectively.
Have bioware acknowledged the issue does anyone know?

This happens to me as well, and switching between companions does nothing to fix it. I too hold down the Tab key quite frequently. I suppose I'll have to stop, as this bug has kicked in during some tough boss fights, rendering them virtually unwinable.

Happened to me once. I think it has something to do with targetting because my cursor was stuck on conversation and my character will always run and talk to Isabela whenever I try to click anywhere.

Hmm. I tried giving up the Tab key, but this glitch still triggers, and always in the middle of a fight. The last time two times it happened were as I was casting Heal. Anyone else have this link?

I am having this happen in fights quite often.
I've tried the above solutions and even ALt Tab out of the game and back again.
Sometimes it works other times not.
I am starting my second playthrough so at least I'll be able to save before most fights now.
Devs any answers yet.

Happens to me too. (windows XP)
Sometimes clicking different party member fixes it, and sometimes hitting [ESC] to main menu then RESUME works.

This happens to me all the time and makes combat quite cumbersome and dangerous.. I need to keep an eye out or my commands will not work. I've had it happen more then 10 times in a single fight.
The hit boxes are all sorts of screwed up.. shades for example have a tinny box that can be hard to find, and attacking anything behind the dog's massive hit box is a challenge.
I also have objects not showing up and textures not loading. I also get lag, characters start running in place after I give them a command.. then a second or so later they run. Any time there is a voice or sound the games locks up for a second or so before playing a stuttered playback of it..
I noticed it maxes one of my cpu cores but hardly uses the others. The engine seems to grind to a halt with sound and panning in cut scenes.

Happens quite often for me as well, with the only working solution thus far to exit the game and restart it. Very annoying especially as it tends to occur mid-combat... have to switch characters often so their tactics will take over and fight while the problem persists.

To repeat people above, simply switching to control a different character and then switching back, fixes the problem for me as well. Does this NOT work for anyone?

I can confirm that this solution does NOT work for me. Nor does alt+tabbing out and back into the game. The only solution that has worked for me is to restart the game client.Malanek999 wrote...

EDIT: Furthermore, I have no ability with ANY of my characters to interact with objects when afflicted by this.
