Just as the topic suggest, I'm curious on what is everybody playing for their NM run. I just recently cracked open the box and got my butt handed to me as my Mage. I dropped it down to hard but felt like I was having an affair of sorts so I wised up and bumped it up again. With that said, I'm considering rerolling for another class. I played with a 2Hder in Origins NM but was hesitant if they kept them intact (Knockdowns, Stun Immunity, etc). So place you're builds/team set up and show off what badassery you are braving through NM.

Doing my first playthrough on Nightmare.

Hawke: DW rogue (dex/cun focus, Duelist/Assassin)
Party: Anders (healing/aoe damage with primal), Aveline (tank), 3rd slot variable (usually Isabela, but I can usually swap in any party member here without it affecting combat effectiveness very much)

The prologue kicked my butt (I basically beat the ogre by sacrificing my rogue to take out all the lesser darkspawn and then kited the ogre with aveline while bethany staffed it to death...) and the first half of Act I was brutal as hell, but once I got to about level 7 and could start using CCCs it was pretty manageable.

My general strategy is to keep aggro on Aveline at all times (Taunt with Turn the Blade/Shield Defense on, and using Stonewall occasionally after I've baited bosses) and using her to stagger with Shield Bash and then following that up either with chain lightning from anders (1000 damage = instant kill on lieutenants) or exploding strike from Hawke (will outright kill anything except rogue/warrior bosses, and even against those will take out ~1/2 - 3/4 health). Anders also has Greater Heal and Aid Allies for panic situations (I don't bother with revive because 90% of the time if somebody dies, either the rest of my party can handle it or I've basically lost already).

Mage in nightmare is stupidly hard until you can get the Force Mage passive skill Unshakable, no matter what you do. After that things get much better.

My party is Aveline/Varric, Fenris, Hawke(mage) and Anders.

My mage is spec'd heavy into the blood mage and entropy trees for shutdown with rock armor, heroic aura and glyph of paralysis. I use chain lightning to combo with stagger from Fenris as well.

Mage. The primal tree is the base of my build as those spells do not damage your own party. He is level 11. So far he only has points in the primal tree and 2 in the Force tree (Fist of the Maker and Unshakable.)

Party members are :Aveline (tank), Anders (healer tree + Creation tree), Varric (rogue archer) and my mage.

I am playing a female rogue archer. Currently on lv11 still pre-expedition.
My group is mostly:
Aveline (tank)
Anders (healing + creation + primal)
Bethany (spirit + arcane + a bit entropy [mainly Horror])
Hawke (archer tree basic [until Storm of Arrows] + assassin specialisation with shadow specialisation eventually).
I am still experimenting (which is pretty expensive if I keep on rebuying those "Maker's Sigh" potions. Hope I will get my 50 gold together instead of spending it for armor and respecing.)

Just came across Sabresandiego's 2Hder post and it feels more to my liking and similar to what I use to play in Origins. As for the companions, not sure yet. Its going to be trial and error according to my playstyle, but so for is:
Me - Tank/2Hder
Varic - Rdps/Controller
Anders - Support/Rdps
Merril - Rdps
