Every so often, the game will lock up almost completely for around a minute and a half, after which I'll get a message saying server connection has been lost. I've set up a firewall exception, I have a constant 2mbit minimum internet, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, because it's really inconvienient.
I don't think it's my computer, my graphics card is up to date, and I can run the game fine until it does this lock up. I'm also running on DX9.
Thanks in advance

Constant connection to the internet isn't required, and shouldn't affect the game. However, here's the description of a reporting procedure that will assist me to assist you:

I think I actually fixed the problem by getting to post on here. After registering my DA2 game to BSN and activating the online profile thing, it seems to have fixed it. Dunno why, I think it may be trying to upload character profile to a BSN profile, but when it can't find what profile to do that to it has a hissy fit.
EDIT: Hasn't been fixed, just happened again. My computer meets the system requirements
1) v1.00 of DragonAge.exe, running from a disk copy I bought off amazon
2) Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz Clock Speed: 2335 MHz RAM: 3.99 GB
Display adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GS VRAM: 768 MB Driver Version: 266.58
Sound adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Driver Version: 6.0.1.5910
OS: Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium Service Pack 2 (6.0.6002)
DX: DirectX 11 (Jun2010) or later
1) Nature of problem: Game locks up for a minute or 2, then I get notified server connection has been lost
2) When does it happen: It's a bit random, normally after about a half hour of play, but it is sometimes less than that
3) Where does it occur: Anywhere, at any time
4) Replicating the problem: I don't see any pattern in it, so I guess to replicate I just play the game
5) Have I modified the game in any way: Apart from the official DLC and the high res texture pack, not at all

Hmm, it's only getting worse, it's now happening about every 2/3 minutes, making the game nigh on unplayable

This happens with me also. Not concerned that the connection is lost, it's just that every time the game super-lags the connection drops. This is during cut-scenes with: high res texture pack (HRTP) on or off, both DX9 medium and DX10 High settings (8800GT SLI). DX9 is a little better though (only 300 or so of the 512 mb of video memory is used either way according to eVGA Precision, so it's not the HRTP).
Q8400 (stable OC at 3.4 gHz)
Win 7 (64-bit)
evga 780i SLI MOBO
2 X 8800GT SC in SLI @ 650 mHz (physx set to recommended)
4 X 1 gb RAM (Gskill DDR2 800)
Resolution: 1680X1050 (16:10)

Same thing is happening to me, but only after I updated my graphics driver, the game was running smoothly before I did so. The game will lag every few minutes and freeze for 5 to 20 seconds. Every now and then I get a message of "server connection lost" after such a freeze. It's getting a little annoying to play like this.

It is a little, isn't it? And I hate immersion breakers, it's pretty much the reason I've reinstalled Oblivion, so I have something to play until this gets fixed. I think it might be a driver issue, I've seen someone else saying downgrading drivers fixed the problem, but I'd really hope there'd be a better way around it

Apparently switching the renderer from directx 11 to directx 9 will stop the freezing...until it's actually eventually fixed. I saw in the "UPDATED - DX11 known issues and drivers" topic that this may take a while...
But yeah, it is a driver problem it seems

I have the same issue, it's really annoying.

Switching to DX9 didn't fix it at all for me, if anything DX11 is better, it just slows down a bit rather than freezing outright

Just got a message off somebody saying downgrading drivers to 258.96 fixes the issue for them. I guess this'd mean a clean install of the drivers, and I hope this helps anybody

Well, downgrading to those seems to have fixed the issue for me. I'd advise you all try that
