Why do I get this odd feeling that your ignoring us? Or do you have a hard time believing that this is nothing more then a mistake on there part?

i did send a pm to david gaider

Then wait, I don't have anything against you and I understand your frustrated. But the forums are in a bad enough state. Posting this on the forums before you even got a word from ea or bioware is ending up causing more problems for the forums.

and i appreciate you hearing me out but im in a rush and dont have time to sit through customer support and posting on the forums was my first instinct flare since it might of been a global problem or might of been an admins fault and maybe one would read this.

I'm glad he posted it here. Otherwise I would not have heard of the draconian measure. I'll make sure to tell as many people as I can about this situation so people can educate themselves about the business practices of EA.

Make sure you tell people that Steam, PSN and Xbox live work the same way.  Can't leave everyone else out now can we :P?

For the sake of their customers right... board shouldn't exist to express your opinion if it lead some clumsy writing to be stripped off they payed product !!!

You can't expect everyone to be constructive everytime.

EA, close all your board and let the customer enjoy what the honesly payed for ....

This is so ridiculous.....

For the time being, this has been "resolved".
From what we concluded. This is nothing more then a mistake on EA's part. Probably nothing more then glitch.

Please, if your gonna complain, go to a different thread. This thread only existed to help the OP and attempt to explain whats going on. Not too complain. Last time I checked you have your own thread for that.

This problem seem to happen a lot these days, i'm just stating that "freedom of speech" can strip you off payed product.
Saying "close you board" was a sarcasm, but if it lead to loose something rightfully paided, it's sad solution.

By the way, at what thread are you refering by my own? i didn't make any thread since a long time.

There exists a thread for your topic. Something about someone pissing off EA then getting banned. The thread still exists, I just can't remember the name. Shouldn't be too hard for you to find. I'm just saying that this topic in particular doesn't have anything to do with what the OP wanted. Don't take that the wrong way, What ever you and many others wanna fight about. I want absolutly no part of it. I'm here because I am a bioware fan and I enjoy DA2. I prefer to avoid these conflicts if I can, but I also prefer that these conflicts stay where they belong.

Ah yeah, i remember, this thread of yesterday, but i didn't started it, but yeah i did write something in this thread.
Don't missender me, i'm not looking for a fight and if you already read some of my feed back, i always prefer to discuss about "why" than 'good / bad because i like / don't like", cause it's not productive at all.

But still, i find some fact so unfair that i can't help it and express myself.
I understand your point (honestly), but it won't stop me from writing what i want.
I'm a big fan of Bioware too, but i'm not an ass licker, if i find something "wrong" i write it in a constructive (or at least i try to) about why, you get some nice pm discution afterward with other guys of this board.

EDIT: by the way, i found the post your are talking about.

Check what i wrote.... this is not a complain .... (sorry, i don't want to look like someone who spend time complainning on bioware and ea).

Wow... issues like these are becoming an all too common occurrence. I've never seen a company try so hard to stamp out free speech. I could understand if the original poster was using an excessive amount of vulgarity or starting a flame war... but to express your opinion? To say Kirkwall is burning in digital hell? Please they use worse language in the Dragon Age universe. I'm not one to really post on the forums, much less cause problems on here. But these instances are becoming all to common and I'm willing to lend my voice to the others in agreement that this is not right, at all. If we let EA take this communistic approach, where does the line end? When do other developers start taking on this draconian measures?

Bioware wants to point the finger at EA stating that it's the addition of their new EULA obtained from EA that all this has come about. I'm sorry Bioware, but it was you that let EA start alienating your consumer base, it was you that enabled them to come in here like a school yard bully and start pushing others around for merely having a "different opinion".

At a time when the economy is doing poorly worldwide and industries are cutting budgets, searching to find ways to make it by... You've seemed to forgotten the core reason why your industry, and specifically your business, has thrived. You've been blessed with a amazing fan base, despite all these troubles your consumer base still finds ways to pay for games, no matter how bad the economy is, no matter how bad the dollar falls in the global market, we always find a way to support our hobby unlike other industries. Is this really what you want to do to your fan base, that fills your pockets full of coffers despite all the troubles occurring global wide? Your reputation is taking a beating, and this is getting national attention now. Your move Bioware.

Don't get me wrong, while I abhor these practices I am by far and away a huge Bioware fanboy. I own every game (for PC) that they have developed. In my office/gaming area you'll find every signed lithograph they've ever sold lining my walls that I purchased off of the Bioware store. The point is that I love the Dragon Age and Mass Effect universe. I really want them to make this right with there customers base so I can continue to support them by buying there products. As badly as I want to play Dragon Age 3, Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars:The Old Republic. I wont sell out my morals and beliefs to do so.

Sorry for the long rant, guess I had a lot on my mind :P

If we look at the OP's join date he joined in 2010, he can post on the forums with his Bioware account.
It is possible, however, that someone did hit the report button and that it went to EA and that someone at EA decided to handout a temporary ban. I find it odd, though, that you did not receive an email or a PM or anything at all about being banned from your account. Is it also not possible that it is your PSN account that has been banned? I'm not saying that this is care, I'm just curious. If I were you, I would send a email to EA support asking why you were locked out (banned) from your EA account.

Are you able to login in the Mass Effect forums or the Dragon Age forum; can you play Mass Effect or DA: Origins?

As for PMing David Gaider, I*m not sure how this would help the OP. David Gaider is a writer, Fernando Melo would be a better choice or possibly Stanly Woo. Fernando because he is the main online guy for Bioware.

Fact of the matter is, EA/Bioware should not be able to do this. It is unethical and possibly illegal.

If your EA account has been banned, you should perhaps contact EA support.

Yeah, that will help.

I don't care what the guy said about EA.  Anyone who has purchased the game deserves to play it regardless of critical comments and what those contain.

Despicable and atrocious company.

If the guy complains to the media and they pick it up, then EA will send a letter saying it was a "mistake" and reactivate his account.  Otherwise, the guy is screwed.  Should have created a multiple account.

Heh, this is plain awful. Feel sorry for you dude. As a lawyer-to-be, I'd probably be interested in pursuing something because of this.

It is not as simple as "hey I've bought it so I can do with it as I please" with software. You own the box and the disc, sure, but you have a license for what's on it.

It is unlikely that it is OK that a forum ban translates to barring you from access to the game, as you've paid for it and thus licensed the software. I've read through the EULA and would perhaps consider this a breach of contract. It mentions the need for authentication, but only in the context of having an EA account and agreeing to its terms.

Conduct on a forum, especially in light of Stanley Woo having no idea what spam* constitutes, should not result in this kind of interference and I know a judge wouldn't look kindly on it in my jurisdiction (UK).

...*purely from a technical and legal perspective. Also a bitter-about-my-topic-being-stupidly-closed perspective.

In my country, there is "abusive diclosure" that protect citizen from any abusive contract.
No matter the signed paper, if it is proved some part are abusive, it's a breach of contact.
EA on their board are kings, even if we are acoutumed to the  "freedom of speech", on this board it doesn't apply (yeah, we are not free here to speak about what we want, this place is owned by EA and they have the right to choose what we are alowed to talk about).

But it would be easy to show that the wrong choice of word intefering with your right to play the game you have paid for is an abusive disclosure.
Playing a video game is not about writing on forum, there is no connection between "writting on internet" and "playing at home", and there is no abusive use of the software (no hack, not resale or other money use etc).
Plus, saying ill word toward any company as a customer can't result it letting the guy pay and forbide him to use the product, a customer is NOT an employ.
How many people complain about delivery service / phone company / electric company and still have no right to be cut off from those service if they pay.

As technicaly, it's possible to forbide posting on their private forum and still letting the customer use the software as it is supposed to be, it's easy to figure out what will be the result for EA.
If EA don't want him as a customer, then they can't take his money too, they would have to chosse between letting him play (even if banned from posting) or give him a refund.

This is actually a really serious issue as far as I'm concerned. As siegdrifa mentioned, there is a lot of legislation to prevent this kind of thing (here I'm thinking specifically about the Unfair Terms In Consumer Contracts Regulations).

A big concern with EULAs is that there is often not enough information on the packaging regarding them. After all, at the time you enter into a contract you only have the case to go on.

I've just cast an eye over my Dragon Age box and it does NOT give any indication this might even possibly be the case, it simply says that an ea account is needed to access the online features.

This really is disgraceful and I'm very surprised the gaming press hasn't yet seized on this harder.

Well the lunatics are really ruling the asylum tonight.

SERIOUSLY DUDE?  "Kirkwall burning in hell"  justifies being unable to play a legally purchased game? A forum ban - at a REAL stretch. A product activation suspension, ROFL.

Pretty much. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Or you can say something offensive and get your games taken away.

Oh wow get a sense of humor for god sake, they shouldnt even be allowed to ban you from single player games unless you have tried to copywright them.

I'm caught in a sense of disbelief....

Is this real or a joke? IF it is real, then someone at EA has lost their mind. Anyway, to OP: Unless you are attempting some elaborate joke, I suggest you contact Reclaimyourgame.com.
