That or some Mod is very religious and bans everyone who mentions "devil", "hell", etc.

EA cancer killing Bioware. They really went to town on that, but so did the posters...kept creating it until the moderators begged, "Please don't create new threads of this."

Have faith - courts are slowly tearing these, deceitful, dishonest, underhand "contracts" under a raft of other laws. Using foul language should never ban you from using using a product that you legally paid for. From the forums, yes. From what you paid for, no.
I hope someone to whom this has happened has the konigees to stand up for their rights and take legal action. EA do not own you, they cannot do whatever they like, and they are not above the law. Just because you clicked "I agree" on a 200 page illegible EULA does not necessarily mean that you you have just accepted someone as your master.

Yep, moderators have been crazy busy, too, shutting down every thread they can make an excuse to do so with...i.e.,
There was a lengthy thread about all the flaws DA2 has. The language was a bit coloourful but not worse than in many other threads which go unmolested.
What did Bioware do? They deleted it outright instead of just locking it.
What did I say? Full panick mode. Sales are falling, the stream of dissatisfied customers doesn't end. I am pretty sure some people are fearing for their jobs right now.

Sorry, Armatyr. Maybe drop RPS a line? Seems to help EA work out their "software glitches".

Something like "Comprehensive list of DA2 failures".
It was deleted shortly after it was created, thats probably why they thought they would get away with it instead of locking it.

As far as you can remember, had the thread really degenerated into swearing and chaos? If not then this would be odd, because most other threads can be very scathing of this little game, and still seem to survive...

...but...
2. I apologise if I'm wrong about this, I really do... but something makes me skeptical about the OP's story, small things (can post on forums but not play game, that's a laptop copy running, a ps3 game cover and what looks like "IOU one PC version" or something, etc. etc.). Seems like a troll at reviving the last issue.
3. OP: Are you sure you haven't got a full on game ban for something in one of those fangled FPS thingies? (personally, I don't think these should affect sp games if they do, apart from anything else those people can't bother the rest of if they play something SP)

There were no replies to it when I looked at it. The OP language was not tame I admit, but not worse than what I have seen in other unlocked threads.

I'm confused right now. It seems that you've been banned for saying the r-word on the forums? in connection with shep? (shepard from Mass Effect, I guess?) It also sounds like armatyr2 have been IP-banned? If that's the case, this is a bit too much, I find.
Like v_ware, Armatyr2 should probably only have been banned for 72 hours from the forums, not your main EA account. Bans handed out by EA is the result of someone hitting the report button. Apparently someone did report one of Armatyr's posts to EA. Or the ban is a result of EA using a text parser, and when it finds specifik words, the software system is just set up to hand out bans for 72 hours.
EA seems, however, to be monitoring these boards and they will apparently ban anyone for 72 hours that uses what they deem inappropriate, i.e. profanity content. I don't know if that's EA is doing, but it certainly looks like this. As I've said in the other threads about this, if a gamer finds a post offensive, please PM a moderator or Christ Priestly or Stanley Woor or possibly Stanley Woo.
I read the first thread about the EA Cancer. It was ok at first, but then at the end, it got silly and repetitive.
And then last night, there were 4-5 or maybe 8-10 threads about this. Opened one after another. This is not wanting to discuss things, this is harassment. And Bioware and EA has every right to decide that they do not want to be harrassed at their own forums. Just like you have every right to show someone the door that misbehaves in your house.
Like Chris Priestly said (in the other thread) EA will enfoce the rules of profanity on these boards. So anyone using profanity of any kind will apparently get a 72-hour ban now? I'm asking because to me it seems a bit of an overreaction. And also it seems like that EA is going to enforce a policy that's almost un-enforceable.
edit:
Bioware locks and, sometimes deletes, threads that really should go into other threads. There is an official thread for fan reviews. The thread's, comprehensive list of da2 flaws, first post would naturally have belonged there. Threads also get locked if Bioware decided that topics are discussed in other threads already.
edit 2:
The words used by v_ware and now armatyr/armatyr2 seems clearly to be defined as profanity by EA. It's interesting because this means that even in the discussions for BG2: TOB we can't use the h-word, apparently...

This is EA relying on the fact that Armatyr does not want the time and hassle to take them to court over this shamefully abusive EULA.

Back up the truck for a second, because nobody's actually established this is "real" yet...
Do me a favour. Go and read through his posts on this thread again. Really just read them.
I don't think the sinister 1984 thing happened to him at all. We've actually been told that's not being done any more but.. whether you believe that or not let's ignore it for a moment:
He can post.. his pushy voluntary posting of "proof of owning the game" is a PS3 box and a handwritten note, and he's running it on a laptop. ("well that lends credibility, must just be a mistake because why would he volunteer to do that otherwise")
I'm not trying to sound like a "courageous defender of the man" here, but... does it not seem like an attempt to revive the last issue now they've apologised for it?
I predict that people will sniff this out as rubbish, then a more convincing version will show up.
Whatever gets someone their winning thread on Reddit.

I bet the pirates are laughing at us now, owning a legit copy of the game actually puts you at risk of some power-hungry mod disabling your game for 72 hours, while the pirates don't have to worry about anything like that.

The latter can be very damaging for a company's image.
Sure, once in a while people will release a product that isn't as good as expectations, but that is NO reason to go into the panicked frenzy that EA and Bioware collaboratively seem to have spun in to.
If I were them, I'd just face the facts that some people didn't enjoy the game, and try to improve next time. You live and you learn. But there is no reason for people to have their opinions barred because someone doesn't like it. Freedom of speech is key, and the more you skew viewpoints into ones that agree with your own, the more likely it is that the company image will become reflected negatively.
EITHER WAY, That should not have anything to do with the OP's EULA. He purchased the game, and voiced his opinion of it. That should not limit him from accessing something he's paid for.

Personally, I'm happy to add my name to the list of people saying the 1984 bans are completely unacceptable.
EA have apologised for them and hopefully the message will eventually get through to them that consumers are very wary of anything that smells like nastiness these days. We're all poorer than we were, games that smell of nastiness wil tank.
I just think that since the Dragon Age franchise is the last vigorously purchased, good party-based SPRPG in existence, joining in the process of trolling it into the ground means that WE, THE PEOPLE WHO LIKE CRPGS AND WANT IT TO BE BETTER, will suffer.
By all means, I'm happy to demand things, vote with my wallet and whatever, but the trolling is going to have to be one hell of a lot more convincing than:
"ip bans are fun lol!!"
The issue that they might have spent all the time and effort on doing first-person voice and limited the dialogue, the content MASSIVELY is much much more pressing issue.
I'd be asking for
1. Assurance that other bans are thoroughly decoupled from SP games
2. A patch to remove the first person voice and add lots of voiceless content (back?) in
...before I was worrying about someone on the forum who's here to tell you ip bans are fun.

I think is it possible to install the game on a laptop and then have it, through some tech means, show up on your tv-screen?
I can't believe people are that confused by the images. It's real simple: OP took a digital photo of his TV showing the game running on the PS3. And then....he put the digital photo on the laptop. I know: it's like "computer magic" and stuff. Oh, no wait: it's not. It's actually ridiculously commonplace and dead easy.

You need to break some rules to do that. So, it's more about what is sayed or done.

Actually, the EULA states that ban on forums can lead to ban of your EA account as well.
This was confirmed by the moderator Stanley Woo the other day.
I believe he said "this will add another incentive to be good on forums" or something along the lines.
In other words, "deal with it".

Too bad that the EULA is not legally binding in the EU.
