EITHER WAY, That should not have anything to do with the OP's EULA. He purchased the game, and voiced his opinion of it. That should not limit him from accessing something he's paid for.

Actually, the EULA states that ban on forums can lead to ban of your EA account as well.
This was confirmed by the moderator Stanley Woo the other day.
I believe he said "this will add another incentive to be good on forums" or something along the lines.
In other words, "deal with it".

Wow. Just, wow. The fact that you can be banned for voicing your opinion on a public forum and therefore be banned from using a physical product you paid money for, (Money that goes, to re-iterate, to the very developers banning you) is outrageous.

It almost sounds like one of those cash-grab schemes.

"Here sir, buy this fantastic product, it's fantastic!"
"Sure...... hey, wait a minute. This product is ok, but it's not exactly great..."
"What was that? OH, I'm so sorry sir, we're going to have to take that back from you."
"Can't I at least get my money back?"
"Nope."

If the thing about the EULA is true, then I honestly won't be buying another bioware game until the EULA is changed.

Sure, I understand banning someone from the forums if they break the forum rules (use excessive language after warnings, hate speech etc), but banning them from the game they paid for is beyond ridiculous. It's as if they want to parent you now. "Go and think about what you've done. I'm confiscating this until you can make nice."

Oh, and last time I checked, "Make sure you say good things about our products. This is a rule" wasn't in the forum rules.

If Bioware wants to come out of this with their reputation in tact, they need to come out with their heads held high. I don't need moderators and dev team members coming and apologising and counter-arguing with me on the forums. They should instead accept any negative criticism, no matter how harsh, and say "Thanks for the feedback, we promise we'll add all of this to make the next game as enjoyable as possible."

Instead, we're getting mods coming in opening threads saying "Feedback please, but no trolling" And whenever someone seems to criticise it, they in turn get interrogated for their views. The amount of times I've seen people on here go "Well your game's not linked, so your opinion is invalid" is so utterly frustrating. Some people just don't link their games. Some people don't have online. Some people may have played at a friends. REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY PLAYED, ITS FEEDBACK.

Take it or leave it.

As for the account, best of luck to the OP in undoing the ban. Hopefully this was for a valid reason, so that Biowarte's image isn't tarnished. If it is because of his prior comments on the game, I will be severely disappointed.

Too bad that the EULA is not legally binding in the EU.

The EULA is not legally binding almost anywhere in the world.

For example, it cannot supercede U.S. law.  It's legal in the U.S. to make copies of your media, be it video games or the like.  The EULA specifically states you cannot make copies.  (We also used to see this warning a lot on VHS tapes).  However, that's not true.  You're legally allowed to make a personal copy for backup purposes, and nothing the EULA says can prevent that.

Simply put, if you sign a contract that says "You must murder your mother," you really don't.  The law of the land dictates what you can or cannot due legally.

Yea, exactly.. I thought when you bought a game you were buying the rights to play it? If they take it away from you with a ban surely you can get your money back?

EULAs don't stand up in court.  class action lawsuit or a refund is in order.Posted Image

Criticism, positive or negative, should never be used to prevent someone from accessing a legally acquired and purchased product. Being snarky does not constitute a violation of the EULA.

You can only make a copy IF you don't circumvent DRM or something similar. You are legally allowed to make a copy of DVD but since you have to circumvent DRM to do it, it is not allowed.

Ok, Bioware. I have some advice on how to avoid more bad press.

I assume you want people to believe that this banning business is an error, and you don't ever intend to ban people from their games or DLCs when you ban them from your forums, so, here's your solution...

Until the problem is solved, just don't ban anybody from the forums.

End of line

Get down from your horse Mr. Whiteknight and have a look at reality. If you legally bought a game and then change certain files to get certain neat features, nobody will ever sue you.

If people have an issue with accessing the forums, the best course of action is to send a PM to the community manager Chris Priestly to see what can be done. If people have an issue with accessing the entire site, they should contact EA Support. If people have an issue with how content from their game is tied to use of the site, I suppose you're free to have the discussion if you can stay civil about it. Unfortunately, as most discussions tend toward abusive language, they're going to get locked because that is unacceptable per the Site Rules of Conduct.

This thread is being locked because someone specifically had an issue with their account. They'll need to take that to Chris Priestly or EA Support.
