When using a mod, does it block achievements?

My staff of parlathan upgrades with me (have to upgrade it manually :( ), deals physical damage instead of fire and is now hands down the best weapon ever :P

It's a WIP when I get it done I'll put up the tutorial.

Can't wait to see how to do this!

I found a tutorial on how to change the powers of the staff. But, I can't figure out how to change the base damage delt by the staff.

Here is the tutorial

http://www.thenexusf...e-modify-items/

The item_properties ID for having the staff level up with you is 9115.

Weird... When I add the 9115 Property it nerfs the base damage and effect the other properties of the staff.  Have you figured out how to avoid this?

It works for me, are you sure you're following that tutorial all the way through?

Ha I just relised that I was being a big silly billy.  The reason the base damage was being nerfed so bad is because it adjusted to my level which at the time was 6.  Given that the default level of the staff is 11 that reduces it initial power. Thanks!

I have gone through it several times and the item level up property does indeed attach to the staff but the base damage is reduced to 9.  This has not happened to you?

Silly question, but you're not trying this on a really low level character, are you?  With that property set, the staff stays at the level of the player.  The default DLC version of the staff is level 11.  If your Hawke's level is lower than that, that property will lower the staff's effectiveness until he/she reaches level 11, at which point it should be on par.

I found that I was mostly receiving weapons several levels above my character's levels, so I didn't bother adding the 'evolving' feature to my modified Staff of Parthalan.  I slapped it up to level 24 to match the champion armor and it's quite nice.

Edit: I see that you discovered this and edited your post before my reply posted. :)

I've been trying to do this, except for the Chanters Staff, gen_im_wep_mag_sta_act1_01, and when I add 9115 to the ITEM_PROPERTIES section with GFFeditior, nothing happens in game. Does anyone have any hints as to what I've done wrong?

I did manage to get it working for the Staff of Parthalan, though, and I didn't do anything different. I didn loose my rune slots for that staff, as I changed 8000 to 915 following th advice of another tutorial. I tried adding 8000 to the ITEM_PROPERTIES to get the slot back, and it didn't work.

Was wondering if it was possible to just add the "level with your level" with the staff into some strange file to place into your overwrite folder, instead of messing with a savegame editor.

Yeah I am still trying to figure out how to do that too.  The savegame editor is a good start but I really would like to make a mod that changes it for good.  So far no luck so if anyone has a idea how to do so let me know.

is there any way of modding the staff so it can be used with the two handed specialisation for stuff like mighty blow/scythe? would be awesome to use it like in the trailer

Short answer is, not really. Those skills are dependent on weapon animations to work properly, in most cases. I believe those skills you noted require 2h weapon anims.
