Who else walks around in a colorful robe and a piece of wood strapped to their back and a silly hat on their head. Its why I preferred the mage armors that were not robes, it kind of fit with the whole apostate in hiding. Seems to me the best way for a mage to hide would be to just slap on some leather or plate, they could walk right out of the Gallows.

I just imagine that im not wearing the actual armors when talking to people, but just normal clothes, or that the armor looks like clothes normal people would wear in the game, despite what my eyes tell me. also i absolutely despise the mage hats.
That's what I think. Anyway, just look what Hawke wears...they're not actual robes, unless you put him in robes.
lol those mage hats are horrible. I'm glad you can toggle hide them.

I played as a mage in my first playthough and almost beat the first act. But as i was doing the side quests, it seemed to me that noone in kirkwall recognized i was a mage. I mean i have a templar standing infront of me and and saying all mages should be punished, and he doesnt realize im standing infront of him with robes and a staff. He seems to think im NOT a mage, UNTIL i tell him. Thats the stupidest thing ive EVER seen.

When you come to the attention to people who'd actually be willing to confront you about it, like Knigh-commander Merdith, they overlook it. She specifically told me this at a point. the only reason I'm allowed to be an open apostate is becasue of what I've done for the city by then.

and how would you explain the darn staff on his back.
"Oh look! he has a staff on his back, but he cant be a mage..... "

It gets worse when you consider that all the Templars you deal with. Most of them believe like Wesley did, but God bless that guy he had a wife who kept him grounded. In the end this would have been an AWESOME expansion, but for a sequel it fell flat a few places that make you scratch your head at how it got overlooked.

I think may be miscommunication, it's not that mages don't fit. Because nearly "all' the story is about mages and templars, building up from the very start. It's that people should take notice when your a mage or offered more choices. Mages do have some ablity in interaction, though it would be nice to see people greet you in a tottally different manner and tone based on if you were a blood mage (though they really couldn't tell) or if you were a mage or a warrior
