*points at title*
How the heck do I get friendship points from this guy? I have had him in my party since the beginning of Act 2, and I've tried to be as benevolent as possible (which I assumed he would like), but I have yet to get a single point towards friendship (or rivalry) beyond what I got form his personal quest and gift. It doesn't help that when I recruited him, he was already about halfway down the rivalry path for some odd reason (bug?). So, what does it take for me to get friendship points for him?

Approves of most of the same quests of Averline, try doing some of the viscount or helping quests. Will get big points for quests for family like Averlines dating quest or Varric's revenge on his brother quest (but only if Anders steps in and Bertrand is spared).

I did the Aveline dating quest, but I didn't get a single friendship point. Are there certain responses that you have to choose?

I have a different problem. I'm doing repentance and the guide says that if you try to make a deal with the demon, Sebastian will gain rivalry points, but everytime I do this I end up getting +15 friendship points. This is my ps3 version btw

Yay I got 100% by the end of act 2. Choose diplomatic responses, encourage him to be a brother not a prince. Acts of mercy make him happy. He also hates Anders so telling the mage to bugger off helps. Don't take Seb on the Fade quest or Anders's quests. Ask the Grand Cleric for her blessing... There are some small things he will approve of in quests like attacking slavers, but nothing specific comes to mind.

You get +10 friendship if you take him with you to get nathanial from the deep roads in act 3.

Actually you got him when he was on the rivalry path? That's ...odd. Your non-family companions should all start at zero. I was concerned I wouldn't get enough friendship points with him when all I had left were a few plot quests in Act 2 but by the end he got a healthy boost. With that and his later personal quest you should be able to get at least the minimum 50% friendship needed for questioning beliefs.
