I didn't even think that the two could be related... o_o

Oh wow, we've been having the same problem since buying the game, too.

Yeah. I thought waiting about a week to see if it was on EA or Xbox Live's end would clear it up. It didn't. It's still happening. I don't have the slightest idea how to fix this.

Yeah, but given the amount of players this could very easily be a coincidence. Though, it could aslo be a configuration problem of sorts, and who are having the problem share this.
It's not my internet provider or connection. My computer is still up and running while I am constantly disconnected. As soon as I quit the game to the dashboard I am automatically signed back into Xbox Live when I am disconnected during gameplay. Still don't know the cause.

But that was my point. Is it a coincidence that thousands of others who play the game via the Xbox don't experience this problem?
I think I remember Origins doing something to this effect way back when. Then again, the servers never really worked well during my time with that game.
What could cause a game to boot you from LIVE? A download, a patch or an update. So maybe the EA server is doing something that is causing the interuptions. Could this be some sort of re-direct or verifying glitch?
To many questions and not enough information. Good luck.

It's gotta have something to do with data sent to your profiles. Have any of you ever changed profile names/gamertags?
That's not going to help the situation.

It could be this. I'm still unsure. I may check my router and see if it's being firewalled like someone else mentioned.
It is quite strange though. I get the disconnect during game play, go back to the dashboard and I am signed back in as if nothing happened.

To be more clear on how slow things went. Think of a 386 trying to run Doom

Experienced this as well but I retain the xbox live connection but DA2 simply slows to crawl. It's like the Xbox 360's cpu cores are being maxed out and you have to wait for your button presses to catch up so you can exit the game.
No, it's the games engine causing the xbox to freeze. The cpus are quite good on the xbox, everything else..............well

It happened the week before before Dragon Age II was released and I figured they might be tweaking stuff that had to do with uploading game data to the profile. But when it happened this past week I knew they couldn't have actually shut down the Origins data updating because if they were going to do that, they would have did it already I imagine.

Up until Firday last week I was playing Origins and Awakening and I just chalked it up to them working on the servers.

it's not a freeze. It's slowing of the game similar to that of a game maxing out the hardware. Had it been a Freeze freeze you couldn't get button functions through or reach the xbox dashboard through sheer patience. Then again you probably didn't sit at the screen waiting for button presses to be acknowledged until the system responded either.
Step by step what happened to clarify:
Looted a crate, then Bioware server disconnect popped up.
Game acted like it froze so I just sat and waited and my party started to move towards me in a stuttering way.
Pressed the Xbox button and waited 5min for the menu to pop and select dashboard..waited 10mins for the Yes or no prompt to exit game to dashboard...waited 15mins for the "yes" prompt to be ackownledged and boom back to dashboard I go and restarted DA2 and everything was fine.
it's not a complete freeze but can act like it for the impatient folk.

Don't know if this is the end all fix, but since doing this I haven't had any problems. The fix involved manually setting up my router to be outside of the firewall. I only thought it could be that because I recently got an Apple Airport Extreme and never had these issues with other routers. I found a video on YouTube that outlined the fix and I'd think it would be relatively similar to tweak other routers as well. Here's the video, it's geared to the AirPort Extreme of coarse but it may put you on the right track. Cheers.
