So Which Ending Is "Canon"?

It came up in another topic but I thought it was an interesting idea -- in both KOTOR and in Mass Effect, one of the multiple endings was selected as the 'official' version, so that people who came in playing the sequel having not played the first game would have a place to start.

In KOTOR 2, Obsidian used a dialog system to pick out what happened in your particular version of KOTOR 1. (I won't spoil that game here, though.)

So I guess my question is this -- which of the endings of Dragon Age do you think is the "official" version? Is the Warden a human male noble? Does he sacrifice himself?

Or do you think that there won't be an official version and that the sequel, if there is one, will be wholly based on what came before? Or not related to it at all, so it wouldn't matter which ending you got in the first game?

I'm curious to know what you all think! :)

In official Star Wars canon, Revan was male and light side, regardless of how Obsidian handled it.

As for the canon ending for Dragon Age...well, it's too early to tell, but I have a feeling race and gender and origin will have little to do with the official canon. I think the best option would be the ultimate sacrifice ending.

That was the bit I was not mentioning because of the whole 'ooh, spoiler' thing. Not everybody has played KOTOR. (Though they really should, it's a great game.)

As much as I hate it, the Morrigan ending is the one that leaves the most possible plot lines to draw from in a later game, though I don't think things like gender and race will play a huge role beyond "This is the tomb of DapperDan Cousland, the human noble who gave his life that yet more humans would rule over all."

I doubt there will be a real canon. Like with Mass Effect, but more of a 'poster hero'. Whereas in Mass Effect the 'poster hero' is a male Soldier. I am guessing for Dragon Age it'll be much alike but as a Male Warrior (The trailers, anyone?) and I'm guessing he at least went with the ritual from Morrigan. Though perhaps he sacrificed himself and in a further storyline that plays out x years later, they might hear tales of his heroic actions.

Booo. I think it should be the Cousland daughter, who became the queen. :D

Now that, right there, that's just silly.

I agree with Raltar - I think the canon ending will be that a Grey Warden made the ultimate sacrifice and stopped the Blight. It does not have to get any more specific than that to provide a backdrop for the sequel, save perhaps that the Grey Warden let all the companions (save Loghain) live if they want to pursue those plot threads.

I don't think they'll have a canon ending. We know Morrigan is the 'face of the game' so I think any future stories will be based on her living and running off to the mountains and not the Grey Warden PC.

If you reject the 'dark ritual,' her last words are that she'll 'do what she has to.' I'd guess that even if one of the Warden's sacrifices themselves, she manages to get ahold of some godly essense.

It's a dark game. I'm positive that the Morrigan ending will be used as a plot hook for the second game. Although I hate to admit it.

I think it will be like ME, and ur decision will carry on into the sequal ( if u play as the same character and providing u didnt sacrifice ur self)
