Is this just nightmate mode or does it happen on every difficulty ? My mage suffers a knockback on EVERY hit, melee or ranged.

I've looked at the Force Mage specialization and there is a talent for +100 fortitude. Will that negate this effect ?

That and rock armor might help, yes.

Yes, Unshakable helps a lot.

Yeah you get knocked back, knocked down and all that stuff based off how much 'force' you take vs your maxHP and fortitude. It's basically 10% of your max HP as your base check, then add fortitude to that. Your mage gets knocked around cause they have ****ty HP, 100 hp means they only have to do 10 dmg to push you around.

Even with 20 Str, at 100 hp they'd only need to do 20 dmg, and with low %armor thats very likely to occure on every hit (more so on Archery since there slow but do high dmg). Rock Armor would help as it'll add a straight 30% Armor on, with base values that should be around 50% vs normals.

And Unshakable for sure, even at base 100 hp, they'd have to do 110+ dmg just to push you back. And if there doing 'that' kind of dmg, well, your insta-killed anyways, so being pushed isn't much of a concern.

Yea I have this same problem on Hard.  You can just get pummeled by enemies.  Good to know about how to prevent this.

I figure most mages unless they go blood won't do this but jacking up your const will help a lot. My Merril has like 275 hp and when she has rock armor turned on she is almost impossible to stun or ignite, she took like 4 fireballs (which she didn't even flinch from) in a row from the high dragon and was still standing.

But still the knockback is RIDICULOUS on nightmare, without rock armour (with galvanism) + unshakable you practically get owned in a corner if a melee closes in on you. I'm literally running for my life every fight. The game needs balancing in the first 10 levels Bioware for Nightmare.

However I am finding it refreshing to have a challenging Bioware game for a change. Shame about the utterly shameless reusing of environments.
