So turns out after doign the Night Terrors quest in act two and then going to the Hanged man and talking to Varric (who I took with me into the fade for that quest) I got a Actual romance option with talkign to him! It was one of two options for forgiving him and yes it had that heart there to designate it is a romance option! First Dwarven Romance really?

You only get minor flirting options I think. I got a few for Aveline as well. Its not a true romance, just fun flirting as far as I know.

Sadly he's like Aveline in that while you can flirt with him, you can't actually BE with him. Sad really.. Varric was my favorite companion and it hurt to know that all he would ever be to my Hawke was a snarky brother-like figure.
