....casual...and hes three shotting you? Your rogue yes? If you have that ornagish talent tree with tiger claws It will give you an auto crit strike, I had varrick, anders and fenris and used A dozen elfroot potions

It's a duel to the death apparently, only between the two of us. He does this charge thing and than just starts wailing on me,I'm dead before I can stand

If you run from him and sort of arc so he gets close and starts attacking, you can get some free shots on him. Rinse and repeat.
Myself, I liked to do what i said above, do a backstab and then assassinate. I also found out that I had some explosives on me which when you hit him, stuns him for about 5 seconds.

Wait what? Casual? Well I can only pray that you are playing on a console, because on PC, casual can be beaten while being asleep, that has been proven.
jokes aside... I've beat him on hard on my first playthrough. If you don't have a decent tank, he'll make toast out of your mages. Uh, I'll share my knowledge with you, My main composition was Me (rogue dual wield) Aveline (tank) Merril (Dps mage) And Anders (healer)
This way Anders revives, heals, does whatever buffs I need etc, Merril blows everything up, I basically go into a riot with haste, and aveline there to take the damage.
Agaaain, I'm playing on hard and oh believe me the Arishok is one of the easier fights

I baited his swings and ran when he began an attack and shot with a bow. Worked after awhile. The assasinate ability helped alot. Works on ranged and melee.

duck and weave. its possible to side step his attacks especially his charge. when you do this this be sure to debilitate him however you can and go to work then cut back to dodging. buy plenty of potions. i was lvl 19 warrior when i faced him. it probably took me 25 mins to beat him. oh, don't be afraid to run circles around him.

are dueling him or with party?

Posté 12 mars 2011 - 10:35
I ran circles round him as a rogue dual wield and just spammed stamina pots, then repeated use of backstab, assassinate etc. Running around works well, use pots regularly.

Yeah the fight to the death would be advantageous for ranged combat. Like I and some others said though (and we had it on higher difficulty) just bait him so he attacks thin air and take advantage when his defences are down.

You refuse the duel or just say anything, he useally attacks you all out. The duel is only if you earned his respect and invoke it.

hmm, well i dueled. Damn pride almost got me killed. but yeah just dance around him, warning he does a impale move after a bit so when you feel like he's gonna come out of what ever stun move you put on him get away!

i dueled him too with a duel-dagger rogue(i neglected to learn any stun moves and i didn't have assassinate at the time). i just kept running back and fort from him to bait him to attack and when he did i flanked him. it was a long battle sometimes he'd manage to hit me but i just used some potions for stamina and health.

I didn't even get the offer to duel him, I guess he didn't like my guy. Also as a rogue the dog is your friend, I was a shadow and it was kind of funny to see a High Dragon keep attacking a dog that won't die.

I did it on a DW Rogue.
Using the duelist and assassin trees. I honestly ran around the room like a cheap ass and then assassinated him, as well as twin fanged him OVER AND over.
Even so, it was one of the most fun boss fights I've had in a game.

Use Decoy. When I used it on him, he glitched and just stood still for like 60 seconds. You can hammer on him during that time.

i didn't earn his respect and i still dueled him or maybe i did earn his respect and my game did not give me the "a worthy rival" trophy/achievement

I had a ton of health potions handy. I also called on the dog as my backup.
It was just a matter of hitting and running. Didn't even really use any special abilities either. In fifteen minutes, he was dead.

I wonder how many people abused the console commands for the Arishok duel and the High Dragon fight.

Not me^
I actually played the High Dragon fight on hard. I must say, it took quite a WHILE to do it... More like 40 minutes.

I'm a rogue & use a bow.All I had to do is let my dog get his aggro and then keep attacking him untill he comes after me,then I just stun him so my dog gets his aggro again..Kept doing this untill he's dead.
