So I just finished dueling/defeating the Arishok (longest and most intense fight I've played in this game, took like 20 minutes and a ton of potions).

Now, I am in Act 3 since it starts right after. Orsino is preaching to the people about the fact that Meredith is basically a tyrant.

Did you agree with Orsino or Meredith, what happens when you say who you agree with? (without major spoilers, please)

I sided with the magi as I did not like the way they were being treated by Meredith.

Can't really say much else without giving too much away. Follow your conscience.

which ever one you agree with will determine if you get a quest or reward from them. Do what you believe in.

Are you talking about on the Steps where they're arguing with each other and they ask your opinion? Yeah you can side with either of them it doesn't matter, the Mother runs interference to diffuse the situation. You end up doing quests for both of them before you have to pick a side.

Just roleplay it, because there is, more or less, no reason to choose one over the other. There is no "good" outcome. When you are done Thedas is still in flames. As George Lucas says, "You don't have an ecstatically happy second act."

Actually you can pick either side or stay neutral at this point. It will not change much of what comes after.

It doesn't really matter. You can hop sides at the last moment just before the showdown.

I don't think Orsino is insane at all. He does what he thinks he has to to save everyone.

I do think it's a little lame that he apparently can't handle using blood magic a little. I mean, c'mon. You should at least be able to talk him out of it.

I thought it was lame that none of the templars tried to stop Meredith until the very end... I would have sided with the templars, but calling upon the Right of Annulment was completely unnecessary on Meredith's part.

I liked Orsino a little bit better, but what can you do? Both end up dying.

He covers the killer of Hawke's mother because he fears that it will bring bad light on mages in general. And he talks all nice and innocent while he is actually a bloodmage. I wouldn't trust him further than I could throw a stone golem.

Well, Orsino seems sensible for quite awhile...

And then just says "Lawlimasuperbloodmageabomination" at the fight.

What I didn't get was him turning into the Harvester at the end if you sided with the Mages. That just felt totally random and was more or less tacked on just to wipe all 4 "people in high places" out by the end of the game. Siding with the Chantry that makes a bit more sense as it's his last ditch effort.

I think I'm now more surprised to see that none of them bothered ripping open the Veil and calling upon them a legion of demons...

As people said - covering up Hawkes mothers killer. Going crazy just when I started owning the templars easily.

I agree. Orsino at first seemed sensible, but then ... stuff happened.

I thought Orsino was just under stress. Then I realized at a crucial point in the game how wrong I was.

What was really disappointing was the verbal confrontation before the final battle (after receiving the letter that initiates the endgame quest [and that's the only quest that warns you IN THE JOURNAL ONLY, but that's another issue]). There was all that drama and people were on the calmer side of things. That was more toned down than the Landsmeet, and that didn't contain (or require) anywhere near the emo/soap-opera/everyone's-on-crack drama. I mean, that should have been a shouting match with VAs putting everything behind their screams.

Neither were in the right, but Orsino wasn't an ignorant inhuman monster like Meredith. I think his last second blood magic use was pretty stupid, but at least can be justified, even before Meredith gets the lyrium idol she's still a fascist.

His character was almost good and then they decided to ruin it in favor of having 2 final bosses.

Well, they both needed to die, really, in order for the story to play out fully.
