Baldur's Gate 2 is far better.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a troll and has never played Baldur's Gate.
Nonsense. I've played the BG Series well over 30 times, using hundreds of Mods. I loved it. I am on my second runthrough of DA2 now and consider it to be more immersive, enthralling and no game has captured my heart as much. Not even DAO and BG. I was on the fence until I played DA2. But I'll willingly admit to being wrong about it.

different eras, differents games, differents spirit and concepts. Not comparable, both enjoyable.
It's like saying ''**** Fallout New Vegas, Daggerfall was better''...
According to the Critic aggrigate scores, Fallout: New Vegas *is* better then DA2.

DA2 more immersive? For what reason can you explain? I thing bg2 was the most immersive game ever..
Not without spoilers. And I doubt you'd care much anyway. See, I love both DA2 and BG to pieces. Yes, hell has frozen over, I guess.

Funny thing is the first time I saw it I jsut thought it was dumb as hell to penalize a class in such a way and called it the worst design desicion ever. Baldur's Gate 2 was still a great game though.iLogic wrote...
BG2... incomparable. They need to just completely copy paste the entire story into a new graphics engine. Remember casting that first spell in town and having the wizard show up to warn you. A quick memory of what happened in the beginning of the game, and suddenly you have an actual choice, not presented to you in a dialogue wheel of three options. You aren't directed towards or away from the choice, but it's obvious. Do you ever risk casting another spell in town? And if you do... what exactly will happen.
That was a game, that was an actual world

I foun it incredibly immersive, mainly because of the wonderful codex informations about every area of the game and the cinematic approach. Plus I really liked all the lore and the whole mages vs chantry and qunari really made me feel like I was inside the world, since I had strong opinions about what was happening.Monica83 wrote...
i dont know... since i find bg2 more detailed in evrything and da2 flat and empty sometimes i dont see this immersion...

Oh, I can just imagine how much it sucked for ADHD. Game breaking experience! You need to be grouped to zone and can't flee of fights by sneaking one char to the teleport zone and watch the rest of the team automagically teleport. Sucked!!!
Edit: And certainly ruined XP/hour ratio! BG2 sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope this is sarcasm. In DA:O you cant even flee a battle. Thats a lot more important than an area. Fleeing an entire area without your party is kinda cheesy. BG offered far more freedom in combat with fewer limitations.

Most of the BG lovers are PC elitists that started playing RPG's at least 5 or more years ago and now are looking through nostalia tainted rose colored glasses. These PC elitists are constipated in their thinking and refuse to have an open mind. Prune juice indeed! Get of my lawn.
I have played both BG and BG2 and feel they are both highly over rated, and not as enjoyable as NWN or NWN2, DAO or DA2.
I'm not a PC elitist, so I will tell you this here and now:
Your comment just does not fly. Were it not for the BG series Bioware wouldn't even be in existence. Calling that series overrated is just asinine.
DA:O came close. The others did not.
The worst of the lot is DA 2, a rushed hack job of a project that isn't really remotely close to a RPG.
to be real DA:O didnt even come close. Not close at all. The variety of enamies and encounter design took DA:O to the woodshed and it didnt have level scaling. I could write six paragraphs as to why BG was better. Like I said before KOTOR was a dumbed down BG and DA:O was a dumbed down KOTOR.

I've spent more time on Baldur's Gate II than on any other RPG I've played, purely because of the level of detail, how the storylines weave through each other, the settings, the plotlines, the dialogue, the characters - BG2 was truly excellent. Whilst I enjoyed Baldurs Gate, it was the sequel that was stunningly brilliant in every area.
I don't think DA2 could even hold a candle to BG2 even if they were played side by side now.

I'm rather bemused, looking at the case of my 'Dragon Age 2 'Bioware Signature Edition' case where there's a '94% PC GAMER Editor's Choice *****' emblazoned prouldy on the front. If I were to sit down and review the game myself, I'd be hard pressed to put it above 70%. and thats if I put aside my reservations and dislike of some of the games areas.

Dude, BG2 is awful .. it doesn't even support Xbox 360 controller! How am I suppose to even play it? With my mouse or something? 0_o
At Myounage: It supported mouse control? Keyboard hotkeys. Rememeber to keep the mages in the center of the party.
To JdV: The button I pushed was pre-order, and the awesome thing that happened was $60 was transferred from my accout to EA.
