Anyone saying that DA 2 is as good as or better then Baldur's Gate (other then maybe Dark Alliance) is trolling.
DA had coop, so even if I wouldn't bother playing it by myself, playing it with friends made it fun.

Pretty sure Dark Alliance's story was better too. I can say that I completed that game twice. I gave up on DA 2 early in act 3.

well she my elf mage and my first DA:O charactor. in my mind she was only 18 when she became a warden so yeah she have to look very young just like Imoen/Aerie/Jaheira/Viconia because they were my favorites charactors in baldur's gate.October Sixth wrote...

I`m playing it for the first time ever . I`m currently after the asylum when you battle Jon with a bunch of mentaly ill subject and you get to transform into the slayer (An avatar of the dead God Bhaal) .I was more of a Diablo/Counterstrike type of player in 2000's and after that i was just a daoc addict .So i missed that Ip . Although i played Neverwinter Night a lot. I still have my NWN collection with the special pocket thing they offered with HOTU.
It's has nothing to do with nostalgia.Every part of the game's polished and you can see the passion/vision/ambition that went into the IP.Actually the graphic have aged pretty well but i think it's goes with the polishing and the love put into every detail. If you can't look past the 'aging graphic' than you're truly missing one of the best crpg conceived.
Indeed some ppl need money to have fun while other need nothing.Looking past the polygons count it's the only criteria to be immersed into BG2.But some of you can't and well .. your lost.

DA:O wasn't as good as BG but was a good game.
DA2 doesn't come close to comparing in my opinion.

I didn't like PC Gamer in the mid nineties, much less now. A very unreliable source for anything, except kindling to start a fire with.

its just people stamp "this is the best RPG EVER" onto games like BG2 and then start crapping on perfectly fine games like DA2 because its not as good. well of course its not as good, BG2 is widely considered one of the greatest RPG's made. doesnt make DA2 bad or anything though.
the whole "its not as good as _____ so therefore its BAD" logic is just annoying to me because its so common. just bcause DA2 isnt as good as DA:O doesnt make it bad

BG is not the best rpg ever... Planescape torment hold that slot
And well even on its own DA2 is average at best. If this was made by a smaller dev team that is not as known this game would have been butchered by the review websites. That is why its funny to read some of them... All these "buts, look past, curve your excpectations" that the reviews have just make me face palm. Sure im probably a "hater" or a "troll" according to some people. But you have to be blind to miss some of the flaws in this game.
DA2 is a game that tries to be a action / adventure game with minor rpg elements to lure the cod fans in and people that dont like rpg's. Its simply a average at best action game, adventure game and a horrible rpg.
And before someone say something like "but BG was not perfect" no it was not i can name quiet alot of issues with the game. However DAO have even more isses (that people let go off because it "tried" to cater do older a older rpg style. DA2... Well They tried to hit earth but somehow ended up in space on their own little planet.

Ahh the wonderful world of nostalgia. I wonder how many people praising their awesomeness have loaded up either BG1 or BG2 lately and recall all of the horribly bad things about them. I spend 90% of my combat time battling the interface to keep my casters casting and the vast majority of the spells I end up casting are just simple heals. Tons and tons of the dialogue options do nothing to affect the outcome of anything - informational options are lumped in with decision options making exploring all the outcomes an enormous chore. Quest-givers aren't explicit, so you have to run around talking to literally every stationary person to figure out if they've got some worthwhile dialogue.
I love the old Infinity engine games. I've been hankering to play BG1 and explore Durlag's Tower again for a while now (and I'll probably end up dragging whatever character I make through the entire series for the 20-somethingth time). PST is far-and-away the greatest story-telling gaming experience of my life to-date. But, at least I'm man enough to admit these early games from my childhood have glaring problems with them.
lol. It's funny reading this because everything you list as a negative, I genuinly miss about that age of RPGs
