I didn't like Isabela all that much. Anyone else concur?

She was alright I think, though she did double cross me when I tried defusing a war with the Qunari.

I mean I liked her as a character, but she just wasn't really my type, love interest wise.

I really didn't care for her, mainly because she was a one-note comedy reel, nothing more. Most all of her party banter were juvenile sex jokes, which dragged the other party members down with her. I expected development from her, but she never changed from my playthroughs. I haven't romanced her, though. Her design is promising. A gyspy pirate woman? That's so intriguing. But nothing but her promiscuity was ever really explored. Shame that.

Even Uncle Gamlen hit that. Do not want. Especially after she has sex with Zevran and decided not to shower. She is pretty funny though.

Morrigan actually have standards and have goals in her live, she have plans that you don't know. And Isabela? She can be funny from time to time, but so are other characters. To me she is just a ****. I regard defending her...

I don't like her that much, but I didn't get a chance to know her that much. She was the last companion I got, right near the end of act one, and then I spent act 2 getting my romance on with Merril and trying to get basic friendship with everyone, and since some of hte others were so hard, I didn't really get around to making friends with her before she left me when I tried to talk her into giving the qunari their stuff.

I just wish I could have convinced her we could just kill the dude going after her, I mean, killing dudes that are after other dudes is half of what I do in the game!

Okay, explain.

And I just checked myself, you can ask Isabela NOT to sleep with Zevran if you romance her, so that seems reasonable...barely.

I played as a snarky, good-natured rogue and I was BFFs hardcore with Isabela. No romance, just very close friendship. Isabela's final conversation after you finish all her quests was my favourite of the ones I got in the game. She's incredibly loyal and sweet under everything, and you really change her and make her a better person. She's a more complex person than she pretends to be.

I didnt really care for her but thought I would try to be more open-minded. I added her to my party to try and befriend her, she died a lot, so she was kicked to the side for someone else. My dislike for her really grew when I found out about the whole Qunari situation. Than after I put my life on the line, she runs... that's real character growth...didnt mind she never came back.
If she is being romanced by Hawke, he/she shouldn't have to ask her not to sleep with Zev, she just shouldn't. Oh yeah, Morrigan grew as a person in DA:O, she and I were like sisters and she also saved my life.
I'm playing a mage and romancing Fenris, who HATES mages yet he's one of my most loyal companions.

Isabella is deeper then you guys give her credit for. She'll surprise you in the end of act 2, and into act 3 if you push hard for her friendship. Especially if you tell her to give back the book once she's deep enough into friendship :P She just doesn't trust that easily, and it takes a little bit of effort. Once its made though, she'll be your best-est best friend for ever. *nod*

I really have to agree with the part wherein she shouldnt even ask/imply with Zevran, that little part was a real ball drop on Biowares. Given the Merrill bug, Im wondering if that bit of dialogue isnt supposed to be there at all.

Yeah, I didn't like Isabela much... The banter she had with the other companions made me laugh at the best of times and her outfit was cool, but yeah.  She didn't wear pants.  Kinda hard to take her seriously if a pirate isn't wearing trousers; just sayin'.  She was cool-looking and all... but she certainly wasn't my favorite companion, and I hardly used her in my party at all.

Does anyone notice if her outfit EVER changes? I know Merrill's does if you romance her but I don't think I've seen her's change at all.

I've heard that Isabela's outfit does change if you romance her, but it needs to be under certain conditions during the conversation after the love scene, I think.  I'm not sure of all the details, sadly.

EDIT: She gains a black corset over her blouse and black boots as her alternate outfit.

I would of loved Hawke to be able to pull a blade out on Zev, n threaten him haha I think Isabela's character would enjoy that

But I killed Zev in DAO, so I never got to see him or I missed where i could pick up his quest, still would of been funyn though

I blame Isabella because I was trying to defuse a situation and all she cares about is saving her life. I also never liked her.

I don't like her that much, but honestly, I didn't get to know her that much. She was the last companion I recruited (I wanted to do a playthrough where I went with my gut...and my gut was totally wrong about what quests led to getting companions). And I figured she'd be super easy to get friendship up with, so I focused more on the people that were harder to make my friends, which meant I didn't have enough friendship for her to come back when I told her to give the relic to the qunari. So...I don't like her that much, but that'll probably change during further playthroughs.

(But why wouldn't she just let me kill the dude after her? Half of what I did was killing dudes that were after dudes to save the dudes they were after!)

I expected to hate her, even after playing the demo. If anything, the demo made me dread meeting her even more. I wound up not hating her, and even learned to appreciate her flamboyance. Part of that was because I never took her anywhere unless Varric went, too, and hearing them joke around was a lot of fun. Also, while she flirted up Merrill a bit, neither of the male love interests wanted anything to do with her. Had they reciprocated her flirtation, or even shown interest in it beyond apathy, she would have been destroying her liver in the Hanged Man all by her lonesome, but they both seemed to be totally indifferent to her.

Back in the bad old days, somebody decided that the way to make the player like a character was to make sure that everyone in the game world treated that NPC like they were something special. I guess the rationale was that if this wonderful, special character liked the PC, the PC was something special, too. Shandra Jerro was probably the worst example of this. Everybody loved Shandra, and no one ever said anything rude to her or about her. She was special. When I heard about Isabela and saw the attention she was receiving from the promotion department, with the wallpaper and the trailer, and the hype, I figured that Isabela would be another Shandra. Instead, just about every character gets the better of Isabela at one point or another. Varric cuts her down pretty early, but the rest get their turn. My favorite was the chilly exchange between her and Anders when she sought treatment for a social disease in his clinic. No, she managed to avoid being a Sue. I am grateful.

I like how you turned what was essentially a STD into such a neutral term. Social Disease. I like that.

I never used Isabella since my Hawke is also a dual-wielding rogue. The fact that she lacks pants bothers me a bit. I believe that David Gaider or someone else commented on this, saying that it was supposed to be a "tunic dress". However, to me it simply looks like she is wearing a blouse with no pants. Granted, I'll admit I like skimpily dressed female characters. However, when it looks more like she didn't finish dressing herself, as opposed to deliberately exposing a lot of skin, it bothers me a bit.

I liked her up to the point when she said she wanted to save her own skin. I called her selfish and she ran off with the relic. Stupid **** lol

I love Isabela. My fav character in the game and probably one of my fav characters Bioware has done. She reminds me of a female Han Solo who likes sex, nothing wrong with that. Plus she is open and even admits her faults :)

I dont think anyone has an issue with the fact she LIKES sex, since around the forums I've noted a general distaste for her...lets say her partner list would require twelve screens running round the clock to compile.
