I don't like her that much, but I didn't get a chance to know her that much. She was the last companion I got, right near the end of act one, and then I spent act 2 getting my romance on with Merril and trying to get basic friendship with everyone, and since some of hte others were so hard, I didn't really get around to making friends with her before she left me when I tried to talk her into giving the qunari their stuff.
She's actually one of the easiest characters to make friends with. Sarcastic/wise-cracking responses will boost her friendship level quite quickly. She was the last of the party members that I recruited, and I think she was the second character that I maxed out the friendship level with (Avelline was first, iirc).

But she grew on me throughout the game just like another Bioware character. She reminded me a lot of our long lost Viconia DeVir:

And when Isabella ran out on me, I was all 'You ****! The next time I see you I will gut you like a ****ing fish!', and then when she suddenly did her Big Damn Heroes entrance in the throne room, all I could hear was 'You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home!'
That plus her incredibly sweet banter with Merrill made me realize that yeah, Isabela is a rogue with a heart of gold... she'd just forgotten where she left it for a while.

Declaring war against an entire city over your stolen property simply because one person who you know isn't even from that city was guilty of stealing it is as insane as wanting to call down the Right of Annulment on the entire Kirkwall Circle because one apostate who wasn't even a member of the Circle committed a crime. The Arishok and Meredith were guilty of the exact same sin; having absolutely no sense of proportion whatsoever.

It is also Isabella's fault for the massacre in the city, she had the book that the qunari wanted back so that they could leave but instead she was more interested in saving her own skin. Also if you talk to the leader of the qunari and talk to him at the keep he basically says that they are stuck there because of theft. So no it is her fault, she had the book since chapter 1. If she returned it to them they would more than likely left.
Because, after all, there's no way that the Qunari could have hired a ship of their own and chased after the relic when she made off with it.
/rolleyes
It's partly Isabella's fault that the Qunari are in the city to begin with (there was also a storm involved...), but that's where it ends.
Also, during the fighting with the Qunari, one of the characters (possibly Avelline, though I don't remember for certain) remarks that based on the speed with which the Qunari took the Viscount's Keep, it was clear that they'd been planning the attack for a long time. The Arishok didn't just suddenly say, "Oh, hey, the relic's gone! Maybe I should take over the city today instead!" The Arishok has spent three years looking at what he sees as a corrupt (i.e. is disorganized and doesn't follow the Qun) city, and has spent a good portion of that time planning how to "fix" the problems in the city by forcing the inhabitants to submit to the Qun. The attack was planned well in advance.
Finally, that attitude by the Arishok is foreshadowed as far back as Act 1. During the quest involving the Qunari mage, it's possible to get that same sort of response - directed at you - from the leader of the Qunari that you meet at the end of the quest.
But she grew on me throughout the game just like another Bioware character. She reminded me a lot of our long lost Viconia DeVir:
Funny you should bring her up. Viconia was my love interest of choice in Baldur's Gate.

I would never romance her (just like I'd never romance Zev) but she's a fun friend.
