I like Isabella in more of a drinking buddy kind of way, and not really in a love interest way I suppose.

I don't like her that much, but I didn't get a chance to know her that much. She was the last companion I got, right near the end of act one, and then I spent act 2 getting my romance on with Merril and trying to get basic friendship with everyone, and since some of hte others were so hard, I didn't really get around to making friends with her before she left me when I tried to talk her into giving the qunari their stuff.

She's actually one of the easiest characters to make friends with.  Sarcastic/wise-cracking responses will boost her friendship level quite quickly.  She was the last of the party members that I recruited, and I think she was the second character that I maxed out the friendship level with (Avelline was first, iirc).

I never got anywhere with her despite being a sarcastic Hawke, probably because I never put her in my party.
I was disappointed that I got to kill Fenris but not her

I like her personality because she is like my Hawke and I think a liitle bit like Varric. All are sarcastic wise-crackers but good at heart so I can get along with her.

I loved Isabela.  It was the only time you could mess around with a ****ty girl and not catch anything.

I love Isabella, once I figured her out so she would stop rivaling me. You just gotta joke around, not take crap, and be general carefree. I got her to stay for Act 3 as well, and her Questioning Beliefs Quest, had me smiling and wishing I could actually hug her through my television.

She's a Selfish ****, because of her ****ty selfishness she doomed the city and killed thousands of peoples ! Just because she wanted to save DAT ASS from a **** I can easily beat the sh*t out of...

If I meet her, I'll kill her.

I hated her in my first run through. I was left thinking that she got a lot of people killed. I would have ended Castillion. I wish she had vanished from my available companions instead of being a faded reminder.

After playing the demo and seeing what they did to embellish her chest, I figured I wouldn't like her at all.

But she grew on me throughout the game just like another Bioware character. She reminded me a lot of our long lost Viconia DeVir:

I was playing a diplomatic Hawke and after seeing her disapprove of me trying to solve things without all that snarky snarkyness, she dissaproved. So I just stopped bringing her along. After he ran off with the book, I realized that she places herself above the survival of an entire city which I can understand. Although I hear that at 50% friendship/rivalry she will come back.

Just out of curiosity - did anyone who got Isabella to come back still dislike her? It seems like most of the dislike comes from those who did not get her to come back. Also, I can't say the war was her fault.

The qunari response was entirely disproportionate, yes.

And when Isabella ran out on me, I was all 'You ****! The next time I see you I will gut you like a ****ing fish!', and then when she suddenly did her Big Damn Heroes entrance in the throne room, all I could hear was 'You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home!'

That plus her incredibly sweet banter with Merrill made me realize that yeah, Isabela is a rogue with a heart of gold... she'd just forgotten where she left it for a while.

It is also Isabella's fault for the massacre in the city, she had the book that the qunari wanted back so that they could leave but instead she was more interested in saving her own skin. Also if you talk to the leader of the qunari and talk to him at the keep he basically says that they are stuck there because of theft. So no it is her fault, she had the book since chapter 1. If she returned it to them they would more than likely left.

For me Isabella left me a note and never came back.

I loved Isabela, but not in a romantic way. More for the party banter, especially with Merril and Bethany. She brought the, cant get offended, laugh at vulgar stuff humor that more people in the world need to have.

I might point out that not having the book only forces the Arishok to sit there and look for it. It's not like attacking the city was in any way necessary. He made that decision on his own, because he hated human culture.

Declaring war against an entire city over your stolen property simply because one person who you know isn't even from that city was guilty of stealing it is as insane as wanting to call down the Right of Annulment on the entire Kirkwall Circle because one apostate who wasn't even a member of the Circle committed a crime.   The Arishok and Meredith were guilty of the exact same sin; having absolutely no sense of proportion whatsoever.

Because, after all, there's no way that the Qunari could have hired a ship of their own and chased after the relic when she made off with it.

/rolleyes

It's partly Isabella's fault that the Qunari are in the city to begin with (there was also a storm involved...), but that's where it ends.

Also, during the fighting with the Qunari, one of the characters (possibly Avelline, though I don't remember for certain) remarks that based on the speed with which the Qunari took the Viscount's Keep, it was clear that they'd been planning the attack for a long time.  The Arishok didn't just suddenly say, "Oh, hey, the relic's gone!  Maybe I should take over the city today instead!"  The Arishok has spent three years looking at what he sees as a corrupt (i.e. is disorganized and doesn't follow the Qun) city, and has spent a good portion of that time planning how to "fix" the problems in the city by forcing the inhabitants to submit to the Qun.  The attack was planned well in advance.

Finally, that attitude by the Arishok is foreshadowed as far back as Act 1.  During the quest involving the Qunari mage, it's possible to get that same sort of response - directed at you - from the leader of the Qunari that you meet at the end of the quest.

Funny you should bring her up.  Viconia was my love interest of choice in Baldur's Gate. Image IPB

I ADORED her. My first playthrough I was a warrior who was snarky and didn't take crap from anyone. I got so many points with her just because I was always either asking for a reward, or telling people to give me money to do stuff for them. She basically ended up being my character's best friend. Also, she was ALWAYS there. Her constant presence with my other party members and her banter made her feel like a core member of the party.
I would never romance her (just like I'd never romance Zev) but she's a fun friend.
