I didn't like Isabela all that much. Anyone else concur?

I'm trying to get 50% friendship with Isabela but i'm finding it extremelt difficult. I dont want to romance or flirt but I've been using sarcy comments and humours but she doesnt respond to anything in the majoirty of quests I've done.
Im pulling my hair out quite literally. I dont want to lose her in my 2nd playthrough.
Unless the gifts can jump it up abit or known quest that boost alot.

Varic is my best bud, but Izzy is my girl.
I *think* the key is to remember she is a pirate, she is into profit and freedom, as well as humor. I know i got friendship from her every time I freed someone, told someone to do what they will (werewolf quest), and asked for cash.

Fenris was my love, Varric like a brother, but Aveline and Anders + Sebastian weren't really for me.
Isabela does evolve, I think. The last word she says to you (freindship 100%) at the end fight.. beautiful =)

She's also not my least favorite companion, that would be Varric. >_>
*coughs* Sorry about that. Really? I have a hardcore bromance going with the guy. He gives me no trouble, has no real expense to upgrade beyond some petty stuff and has a steampunk crossbow. Also, you get him early and can make him lockpick monkey. He is sweet to all the female party members and isn't a dick.
How can you hate my homie the dwarf? As for Isabella, call me a sucker, but I loved her in the first game and had to have her in the second. I've made her quite useful for my warrior. I give her a wad of talents for being a ninja and it has worked out great. I was annoyed that I lost friendship a couple times for what seemed to be no reason until I realized that she hated that I wasn't asking for money down.

I think my biggest problem with her is that she doesn't feel natural. All of the other companions feel like real people to me. She feels a little forced.

I'd like to respectively disagree. I played a snarky mage who was friends with Isabella, (no romance at all) and there are some very, very touching moments in the friendship path that reveal her as more than a one dimentional eye candy. If you pay attention to her interaction with Merril there are some very touching moments too.
She does come through for you if you give her the chance.
Indeed i totaly agree, had a romance whit Meril on my first caracther and friend whit Isabella, so i agree and when she threatend to cut my balls of i did anything to Meril ;-) i laughed at that a long time xD

How did you get her to stay?TripLight wrote...
I love Isabella, once I figured her out so she would stop rivaling me. You just gotta joke around, not take crap, and be general carefree. I got her to stay for Act 3 as well, and her Questioning Beliefs Quest, had me smiling and wishing I could actually hug her through my television.

The one thing I hate though, which is a bug or lack of qc on Bioware's part, is how even with full friendship and romancing, Isabela still says the negative lines when you talk to her in your party. "Find you a ditch" and "I once knew a sailor like you died in a storm very sad" etc etc.

If she isn't in a romance with your Hawke she goes off to sleep with Zevran before he leaves. If you are romancing her though, you can give her your blessing, ask her not to sleep with Zevran (she says she expects sex from you later on though if I recall), or have a threesome.Dudalizer wrote...

I was a bit disappointed because she was hyped up a lot but she just seemed rather horrid to me a lot of the time. Which is actually nice ... I was expecting a female Jack Sparrow and what I got was something far more real. A loose and filthy pirate who can be charming when she wants and a *bleep* the rest of the time.

Besides, I don't mind when she talking about sex. Honestly? That's pretty funny, especially when Isabela talking with Bethany or Merrill. The best thing is that ( when you romance with her ) she really care about you. I remember when she said that to my FemaleHawke. That's was just great.

I did the same! I romanced merrill- and isabella really was rather sweet.
Warning me to take care of Merrill, and then after her personal quest in act 3 - invited me to sail the world with her - WITH merrill!
Shes SO adorable with Merrill- Constantly refering to her as "Kitten." Telling her she'll teach her to do body shots...and teasing her when she starts up a relationship with Hawke.
It was rather cute.
Honestly i've never had a character in a bioware game that i DIDNT romance that i had the level of "WOOO WE"RE BUDDIES!" feeling with as i did with Isabella and to a lesser extent Aveline.
Its like......whats.....whats the word for....bromance with...two......girls..uh....Um....I dunno! but it was like Garrius/Shep level of friendship!
I dont get all the Isabella hate. She's a good character! A little over sexualized, but id take that any day over "THE LYRIUM BURNS ME! *ROAR* MAGES ARE MEAN! BROODING!!" or " O NOES JUSTICE MUST HAVE....er...JUSTICE!"
Everyone needs a shamlessly promiscuous pirate lady!

Is Garrius the gay alternative persona of Garrus?
Anyway, my feelings on Isabella.
There are none, I was playing a hawke mage who went the diplomatic/good natured root and I found it very hard to keep her friendship up, I also barely found time to take her with my group since Varric was my best buddy, Aveline the tank and Fenris was my stasis ownerer.
She took the book and left, also left a note which meant I couldn't get Ambrosia for later in game, I was hoping then, that I'd bump into her with the chance to murder her.
Bioware let me down that day.

I don't mind promiscuity; she just looks ridiculous. It isn't sexy to look like your chest is about to explode.

But a girl can't possibly have a personality if she presents herself in a sexual way, right? Then she's simply a ****, nothing more.

In terms of personality, yeah, I've never been a fan of numerous sex jokes personally, which is what she mostly is until the very end when she starts to let her "humor shield" drop a bit.
