For the achievement I know it would be easier to side with her as a warrior or rouge but I've played an archer rouge and warrior doesn't appeal to me like the mage (using in combat anyway).

Anyway, I played as mage on my first run though and it was possible, I didn't do it, but it was possible. I personally regret it that I didn't pick it though.

I would think she knows your a mage so the right of annulment applies to you(me) too. I just want to side with her 1)To keep Fenris happy as I am romancing him and want to use him in my group, so to keep friendship I have to take her view of things. 2) The achievement.

<< Mage. Sided with the Mages. Max Fenris friendship. He left for a bit, but when I sided with the mages I had an option in the dialog, something about being a free slave meaning something and he came back to my side and tanked the fight with the templars for me.
You don't need to side with the Templars to keep Fenris if you're friendly at least.

I mean look at DA:O, they all are not that bad, the Knight-Commander .... whats his name and Enchanter Irving were friends even though he was Tempar leader and Irving was mage leader.

I know you can keep Fen and side with mages, I did in my 1st playthrough. I just wanted to know if you could side with Templars as a mage so I could get that achievement LOL. I also think, even with me as a mage, if Meredith wasn't so crazy, I would support templars because I think we need some sort of oversight, maybe not as strict but something.
You can, even as a mage - it just doesn't mage the slightest bit of sense. And while I technically agree on the necessity of some sort of failsafes regarding magic, name a single templar throughout both games that isn't retarded - there's carver and then there's nothing, putting templars on roughly the same intellectual level as marbari.

You need not kill bethany and you can force meredith to not follow through with the rite of annulment.Adugan wrote...
I dont know who would side with the templars though. You would be slaughtering your own sister, and Meredith is an up-tight b**** with a ten foot pole up her you-know-what.
Luth there is Greigor. There is Cullen. There is Thrask. There are the countless nameless templars who bow to you at the end.

There's a guy who wanted to tranquilize or at least lock up the mage-warden for doing exactly what she was told, and who wanted to annul perfectly fine children that had set up their camp and defenses within comfortable yelling distance of the very door he was guarding.
There's a knight captain who preaches to me for five minutes how mages are less then human, talking to three apostates that just saved his ass by raining fire from the sky.
There's a guy who considers it reasonable to leave his own daughter with slavers, and who makes the most axe crazy, most unstable bloodmage in all of kirkwall his second in command.
Theres half a dozen people with a basic sense of self preservation.
My point wasn't that there aren't any good intentioned templars, my point is even those who are, are still colossal morons.
