After getting my initial items, I got rid of the Air of Confidence. The problem is that now there's a permanent quest complete symbol above my chest in my house. On top of that I recently added new content, the Amulet of Ashes and now the chest won't let me click it.

Is there anyway to reset the addons without starting a new game?

Try going out of the house and go to another place and return back or do another quest and return back home and open the chest, coz it works for me when I added the bonus items, Hinds belt and Staff of Pantalan.
