There is also one in the Chantry if I remember correctly. Still looking for more.

There's also ones in these locations from what I remember:Nyaore wrote...
There's one in a cave out in the Wounded Coast I believe. I also found another one, but I cannot remember for the life of me where it was.
- the Chantry
- cave near the Dalish camp
- Viscount's Keep
I think I found the one in the Wounded Coast... I'm not sure because I went there so many times it's a little mixed up in my memory.

-Viscount's Keep
-"Cave" far east side of Bone Pit
-"Dank Cave" on the central-north side of Wounded Coast, you should come across it during "The Long Road"
-"Recently Open Passage" south of the Western Sundermount exit
-Final one, the only one you should not destroy will be in the "Forgotten Lair" in Darktown.

What do you get if you take the knowledge they offer? I never found out as I did the right thing destroying them.
You can't complete the quest if you don't destory the first five, you CAN read the final one to get two attribute points and complete the quest.

Since there isn't any search option for these dang forums and rather then hunting through pages and pages and pages of posts I'm just going to make a post myself. Can anyone tell me where all the Tomes are for this quest as I have only found one so far and I want to complete this quest before Act 3 begins? The one I found was in the Viscount's Keep I ahven't come across any others.
The Chantry
The Viscount's Keep
The cave in the Wounded Coast
The cave at the Bone Pit
The cave at Sundermount beside the Dalish Camp.

hmm I think this thing is bugged I get to the last tome and I read it and choosing the option to accept the book's deal (read but otherwise leave it alone after instead of taking the book). However for some odd reason the game still acts as if I took the book after reading it and thus spawns a big boss fight that keeps wiping my party. Anyone else having this happen?
That's not a bug. No matter what you do with the book, demons will spawn and attack you.
However, to finish the quest and get the achievement, you have to destroy the first five.

It's in my completed quests list but I didn't have any boss fight ...
I'm assuming that one of the areas where a book is located is now out of reach for me (The cave in the Wounded Coast) so it's kicked it into "completed" ... annoying :/

So its not a bug, its intentional. The only *bug* is the quest should simply be moved to failed if you read any book other then the last.

That's not the game's fault, that's yours.vox504 wrote...
I don't find it annoying, like all the bug riddled quests, items, and storylines in the Dragon Age series, it just pisses me off. I never go on the internet looking for information until at least my second play through, but I some how knew I had in fact check everywhere for the last book and that the quest was bugged. Now I find out that because of a choice the game allowed me to take (read, destroy take the book) I not only get stuck with this quest in my log, but i miss a big boss fight and an achievement. You think after the debacle of DA:O and all the bug issues they could have at least playtested DA2 beyond the first 10 hours of the game.

Near as I can tell there is no bug in this quest, being unable to complete the quest by reading one of the books was intentional. To read the book you must strike a bargain which requires you forget about the book. You can't take or destory something you can't remember.

I'm trapped in the same way, but I think it's not as you remember.
I was exploring the cathedral, and yay a book. There were options for destroying, taking or reading the book BEFORE the book wants to deal. I've read the book, THEN it asked me if I wanna struck a deal, and there were options to TAKE or to ACCEPT DEAL, but there were no "Refuse and destroy".
So I had to take it, thinking that okey, I have this book, killed bunch o' demons for it, I'll collect all then make a nice fire to roast bacon.
But no. You can't destroy a book which is now, after defeating it's guardians, is absolutely helpless and it's in your backpack.
So even if it's not a bug, it's a flaw.
Because it's so clear that good, but inquisitive characters (as myself) would read the book, and if they see how evil it is then they'll try to destroy it.
But no. You can not.

One in the Viscounts keep, backroom near throne.
One in the Chantry, left side upstairs.
There is one near the Bone Pit Mine, on a hill there lies a cave, and within it, the tome lies
Then I think there is one inside of the cave past the Dalish camp, the cave before the Varterral's hunting grounds. You have to go through some insane demon fights. It's pretty tough.
@seddo86, you can't, they must be destroyed and not read or picked up. The quest blatantly says to destroy the books

It isn't bugged. You deliberately took the book, read it, and thus failed the quest because Idunna wanted you to destroy them, not read and destroy them. It's your own fault, so don't complain.vox504 wrote...
