I'm actually off on the day of release, but I plan on taking a medical on the next day since I have to work. I figure a bout of diaorhea(sp?) with a tinge of dizziness should do the trick.

UK here so the weekend, but if I get lucky and it ships early..... none... I have a Job where I am the only one who does it in the whole region, so things get very sticky (that and it's bloody obvious) If I am on Holiday/ ill and don't want to exhaust myself playing a game to suffer in RL.

I have however scored enough brownie points with my lovely wife and have her permission that the 7th & 8th are mine to kill/slay/quest as I will. Still don't think I will play be all the time, I tend to get a headache after 3-4 hours play, besides I think I might be able to stretch the points if I take her for a walk by the river on Sunday... More play during the week!

& she accuses me of plotting :P

I made sure to be off on release day even though I will be out of town till later in the day. But I think the best excuse would be "The dingo ate my baby!"

I won't need an excuse, because I have three days off to play DA. Woot!

I'm not really doing anything right now besides the occasional test and college application, so I don't need to take time off.

Though I'm pretty sure I have a test on the 7th...alas, that time won't be spent studying unfortunately.

Take a vacation day... if they refuse, tell them they might as well not because you won't be coming in regardless, important stuff. Personal reasons...

Eh, of all the school/college/jobs I've been at I've never had problems getting out of the odd day or two. If your boss would fire you over missing a day, you're either a video game addict in the wrong field, or you slack off too often, heh.

Well i had thought up this elaborate scheme where i would pretend to conduct experiments involving radioactive materials.
Ofcourse i would call in sick pretending to have been affected by a leak.
I'd then continue with the facade by cutting small pieces of hair.
Or alternatively finding and buying some wigs and appropriate make up to make it seem more real.

Then! i was planning on buying some fake police line tape and cordon off my house and yard just incase they wouldnt believe my story and send the insurance doctor to see if im really down with radioactive poisoning or not.

Ah and then! yes my friends then.. then i realised i have no job and i are rich. :(

Ah well now what do i do with all this radioactive waste? T_T

As much as I'ld like to take the day off work, I just started a new job less than two months ago and already had to take two days off, once for a bad cold and once for a family emergency. I better not push my luck. :(

I do plan on doing a hell of a lot of chores this weekend, though, to minimize me needing to do anything other then fire up Dragon Age at night next week.

I don't need an excuse I pretty much took a whole week off from work. I have about a month of vacation time saved up so figured might as well blow some when the game came out.

I walked in and told my boss I was taking a vacation day on the 3rd off because DA:O was coming out. I did the same thing when Wrath came out for WoW. Hey, the best vacations are ones where you don't go anywhere, just stay home, relax and play games. My understanding wife already knows that I wont be doing anything else that Tuesday, it is a fix your own meal kind of day (or order out lol).

LOL.  Nice one.  Here is my next scheme.

On the morning of the game's release I will have a letter delivered to my boss saying:

______________________________________________________________________________________

To whom it may concern,

We
Columbian Rebels have kidnapped your employee and are holding him for
ransom.  We will be holding him until out demands of $100,000 are met
by his family and thus he will not be at work so please excuse him.  Do not attempt to
contact the police or his family for that matter.  Sorry for the
inconvienyance.

PS: From what he is telling us, he cannot
afford even a paltry $100 dollars so please look into giving him a pay
raise while you are at it!

hmm.  I might be on to something here.  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]

well you could do that and end up with about 50 anti terror dudes breaking your door in and possibly pasting your brain matter over your walls... so not such a good idea then huh?

I've booked the whole day off as I still have leave I need to use up before the end of the year anyway, so my excuse will be that I booked it already.:P  Just hoping the post office doesn't strike again and stop me from getting it...

Sadly, none of these excuses will likely get me out of jury duty next week.

"Growing up I wanted to be a cop. I trust a police officers testimoney 100%, knowing that even in the event of an error I will overwelmingly come out ahead over having been objective instead."

Say something like that when getting interviewed for jury duty and there isn't a defense lawyer in the world who would want to keep you around - In the event that there i police testimoney.

Hehe.

Aye, it would be a case of going out to the nearest store to buy it.  Thought about getting it through Steam but with the time it would take to download it and no guarantee that I can pre-load it I decided not to.  If it doesn't arrive on time, well I'll have a second copy to use as a Christmas present for someone.

I planned ahead and am taking 1/2 day off that day - dr's appointment ;).

I'll be able to pre-load starting Sunday (D2D) and the game won't be unlocked on Tuesday until late morning my time, so I'll be getting home just in time to sit down and play right away!!

Oh yeah - that and my wife won't be home until 10:00 that night! B)

I can't risk infecting anyone, can I?

I made sure to get downsized this year, just in time for Dragon Age! I pity the ones that are still left at the company slaving away at 10 peoples' jobs. Severance is such a sweet thing... at least it will be until the money runs out and all that.

I'm supposed to go for possible jury duty selection in 2 days (Friday) as well.  If I get selected for the next week, I don't know what the heck I am gonna do.   I wonder if I could bribe the judge. <_<

Getting out of jury duty:

When the judge gives his speech about the difference between matter of
law and matter of fact, tell him that you believe citizens should be able to
overturn bad laws.  I am sure he will just love that.

Wish I could call in or something, but unfortunately, I need to work so the first day I'll be off is November 5th. I do intend to play the few hours I have between work and sleep, though!
