Some things I would like:

Improving the inventory.  Having each tab having their own sorting set would be a good start.  Like having the 'all' tab have newest with the others sorted by type.

I would love voiced journals and notes ala Mass Effect style.  It would be crap load of speech but with how the game is I think it would enhance the experience.

Being able to queue up actions for each character in combat ala Neverwinter Nights.

Those are things off the top of my head.  There are other things I'm sure I can think of.

As for stories to extend Dragon Age this is a bit tough.  I mean you defeated the dark spawn arch demon which is essentially an old god.  It is a bit difficult to top something like that.  Admittedly you didn't do this alone but still a momumental feat.  There still is one aspect of the story that does remain unexplored.  That is with the fade, Chantry, and the dark city.  Possibly meet the 'maker' similar but not exactly like the story in NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer.

weeell the kids don't really like all that talking stuff, they just want hack and slash.  I on the other hand thought one of the most endearing things missing from this fine game was voice acting for your character. having voice acting in mass efffect really showed what playing an rpg / almost full movie could be like because your character was so alive and voice made me miss it A lot in dragon age.
The other thing I would love to see in this game or mass effect 2 or dragon age 2 or an add on, multiplayer. not multiplayer for reg running around towns but for when you go into dungeons. when you run into a dungeon you can choose to jump into a 4 player group, random or pick and choose but l do believe it would add so much to this experience. but for those opposed don't make it so you must join a multiplayer group.
One thing I really wouldn't change, group tactics.

New origins, like maybe a qunari/human barbarian.

I'd like the sequel to follow on from the first game, just like mass effect 2.

A new set of origins like the Crows, the Orlais nobles, an Inkeeper, a werewolf, an orphan, a banker, an apostate, a nanny, an abomination, a spirit, a young kid (no sex scenes for this choice, plz), etc.

Make us start over rather than continue current characters. Lower level adventuring is simply more compelling to play.

Go as classless as possible. Based on the way magic works in the gameworld, this probably means having 2 classes: "Magic User," and "Other." Make everything else a matter of attribute/skill/whatever selection.

Action queue.

Make it more difficult for combatants to run right by opponents, either via D&D-style "attack of opportunity" rules, or simply by making the space required to get by other characters be greater.

Promote whoever did the writing for Orzammar, Sten, Wynne, and Shale. Fire the writers who did the Dawson's-Creek-style, supposedly-"romantic" character dialogue.

Well for 1 thing I hope that the story of the sequel revolves around the next generation of adventurers pitted against the darkspawn. This current chapter is called "Origins", so I expect this to be considered as more of a prologue than the main story line of what Dragon Age is all about. Also, it says in the game that an Age is considered about 100 years, so let's see Bioware continue to progress this story over a long scale of time, rather than just the same group of adventurers in the same generational time. I think that the Original story characters should be prolific characters in the sequal, but I don't think the story should involve or revolve around them. Maybe it would be cool to have a much older Sten or Leliana to join your party for a brief time, but not as mainstays in the party line up. I think that the sequal should be about what happens in the next 30 years after the events of Origins, and the prolific characters from Origins have all gone seperate ways and done interesting things in their lifetime.

Also, I don't want to be a Grey Warden next game. I think it would be great if you CAN be a Grey Warden, but I don't want to HAVE to be a Grey Warden. I think that the Grey Wardens are played out, they still need to exist, and maybe even thrive, over time, but I think being FORCED to play as a Grey Warden in the sequel, should be off the table.

Let us use a 5th party member. I think it could be fun and make the
battles more epic. I think 4 members kind of pigeonholes you into using
the same party members the whole game, or at least feels like a
disadvantage if you bring a different party member. Especially if
you're PC is not a healer or a tank, you pretty much get 1 other pick
and more often than not, it's going to be the one that's been working
well for the last 5 levels. Your staple DD or buffer that gives you a
winning combination. With 1 more party member, it would allow a lot
more nuance to how you play the game.

We know a lot about the rich history of Orlais, we know a little about Antiva, and Thedas -- and we know scarce little about Par Vollen and Seheron. I hope that the next game features main story lines that allow people to come from different kingdoms and groups like the Chevalier, The Crows, The Tavinter Imperium, and the Beresaad. Not exactly these groups but something similar. Also, no matter where you come from, it would be great to scale up the size of the adventure, to stretch across these many kingdoms, to expand on the history and knowledge of what we know from the codex, and bring it to life by actually visiting these places in your adventure. I think an awesome gameplay element would to  play the "Origin story" of each party member out, and converge them at a central place in the story, so essentially you're playing multiple PC characters of your own design, rather than 1 character with a selection of party members. If you played out the story of each of your party members, this would also allow for a lot of secondary disposable party members in each character development phase, so the player has more of an opportunity to play with different classes and archetypes with the temporary/secondary characters involved in the story line of each main characters.

The Character backstories are great in DA:O, but I think the overall character progression could have more depth. If these characters don't have a romance option, then nothing seems to change in their personality even in the dire circumstances they face. Even in the final battle against the Darkspawn, I get the same dialogue from all the characters, that I've been seeing for the past 10 levels. Do you know any stories from being a traveling minstrel", tell me about the wardens, can you teach me to be a shapeshifter?. I'd like to see some more depth in the character progression and current situation dynamics.

The big trade-off with having a voiced PC is less dialogue/content voiced.

In that regard I'd highly prefer a mute PC for the sequel. Content over unnecessary superfluities, any day.

I strongly disagree.  One of the reasons I identified so stronly with my Mass Effect character(s) was that she was more than just text, she actually spoke and expressed emotion.  I also really liked that when you selected the text you didn't actually say that exact thing.    It really helped me get a feel for the character and have a sense of when she'd say something sincerely and when she's say it sarcastically.  I'm less happy about the clear diferentiation between paragon and renegade.

I'm curious what they'll do in ME 2.  I know Shepard speaks in shorter sentences but still has a lot of dialog.

And I don't know about the men's voices (I haven't made a male character yet) but the female voices all sound like they were voiced by the same person.  They didn't really seeem all that different to me.

Yes, of course. Voice carries emotions and as such can be a powerful tool for storytelling. However, having the PC's lines voiced also means imposing limitations on the one playing the game. You can't pretend it's your voice the PC speaks with (as it is obviously not, being spoken by someone else), you can't even define *how* you want your PC to say the things (s)he does -even worse in ME there are situations where you don't even know what your PC will say.

In a way you're not in control of your PCs action, but simply observing him/her throughout his/her (not your) adventure.

I'm curious what they'll do in ME 2.  I know Shepard speaks in shorter sentences but still has a lot of dialog.

In DA ? The female VOs sound vastly different. Claudia Black & Kate Mulegrew have large roles in DA -and that's just the prominent voice actresses...you must be imagining things :?

My unrealistic wishes:

-To me to be fully immersive an engine must provide the player with maximum ability to interact with his environment and this must or at least really should include the ability to JUMP, SWIM, GRAB and move objects, and CLIMB stuff.

-Mounts. Horses sure, but especially GRIFFON MOUNTS. That FLY.

My feasible wishes:

-I would like the xpack to take us to Orlais and explore this wonderful place, and possibly let the player make choices that affect the balance of power between them and Ferelden.

-I would like very hard, entirely optional encounters to be added to the game, made to test even the most overbuffed of Shimmering Cheesed AWs ;) Something harder and more rewarding than even the optional Dragon currently in the game.

-I would like a time system to be implemented that dynamically tracks time and adjusts the lightning, the sun, etc automatically, just like in say, NWN2. Though a long shot for an expansion I believe its technically feasible for the engine and more likely to be worth the zots than say, jumping.

-I would like the developers to look at what we have in terms of placeables and tilesets and such and ask themselves "What could modders make the most use of?" when choosing what kind of new areas to design. Re-use as little as possible in order to expand our options. Same with the creatures.

-I would like new features and improvements to the toolset.

-I would like a slider to reduce or augment the "scaling" system so that players can dynamically choose how much they want monsters to be tailored to their characters.

My unrealistic wishes because I'm the only one who wants them:

-blank slate character who isn't predestined to join some great group or anything of that extent, the origins are fine....but I don't like being destined by a Grey Warden type deals.

-The ability to choose a side in the large scale of things . And there actually being a long path for each direction as opposed to say a last minute decision to be evil or whatever.

I don't really care about a sequel, but there are a few things I'd like to see them fix in THIS game.

1. MORE QUICKBAR SLOTS. Why oh why am I restricted to ONE ROW of quickbar slots? If you're playing a mage, THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. Either that, or mages need to be able to put multiple points into a single spell (maybe to increase damage/reduce tickback?) or have some more passive abilities. Even better, it'd be nice to be able to bind items to keys without using the quickbar, which you could then use exclusively for character-specific abilities instead of stupid crap like "use health poultice".

What I'd LIKE to see are FOUR quickbars, one for each side of the screen, each of which represents a single character, so you do not have to switch between characters to tell them to use their abilities. The ability to monitor tick-backs on all characters simultaneously would be REALLY NICE.

2. Multi-condition tactics, and some tactics that take into account things like "if I miss twice/three times/four times in a row" and, PLEASE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PUT IN AN "on end of combat" and "on beginning of combat" tactic. PLEASE. You should be able to activate multiple modes as a single tactic slot and have a blanket "deactivate all modes" command.

3. The ability to scroll WAY WAY OUT in tactical mode. How the heck is it "tactical" mode when you lose the ability to see the enemies who are way off in the distance? And both modes need to use the same methods for scrolling the camera around. What the heck is that with holding down the MOUSE WHEEL to move the camera around? Especially since if you accidentally roll the sucker, it jolts you back into character mode. :P The camera controls for topdown mode in NwN were FINE.

I got used to the absurd right-click-for-everything-except-to-target-an-ability thing, but that could stand to be fixed, too. However, there REALLY needs to be a quick-key for "next target" a la NwN2. It seems weird to say much positive about that game, but the ability to just hit a button for "next" was really nice in big combats when your target kept going down. I'm assuming the console version probably HAS this, so why not the PC version?

The game needs to be REALLY CLEAR on the difference between codex entries and quest info. It's REALLY ANNOYING to have to sort through myriad pointless codex entries in order to find the damn quest note that tells you where to go because the quest entry itself does NOT. If it's a quest, either put 100% of the info IN THE QUEST LOG or dispense with the quest log altogether.

Fewer scavenger hunt quests of loot grinding would be nice.

Loot that actually matters would be nice. What the heck does it matter if you do +20% nature damage when that's only FOUR POINTS OF DAMAGE?!?!?! Heck, +4 points of damage would be preferable. And what does that add to, anyway? Basic attacks? Spell damage?!

Oh, and MAGE HATS THAT DON'T LOOK EFFING STUPID.

Almost all of my complaints are game related and not plot/story/graphics-related, because those always change anyway. But some of this stuff could stand to be fixed.

Its the Violent voice that says that. Same for dwarves and humans..Not sure for the other races.

And I don't mind having the pc non-voiced...makes me feel like its more my own then.....well I just don't like sounding like Mark Meer.

AS a full fleged sequel, I would like to see vaster areas, cleaner graphics (use of physX, better Bloom, higher res textures, ect...) More characters that can join your party, more specialization skills, more over all skills/spells/ability's.

Also the adition of the missing obvious like cloaks/mantles, belts showing, significant armor set bonuses, mor cinematics (but of higher quality).

So overall I guess its just more quality and quantity. I want more, and I want it to be somewhat better polished with eye candy, bells and whistles. Either way id buy it even if it was only a new story with new characters.

I'd like the next game to take place something like 20 or 30 years after this one, and making becoming a Grey Warden optional, it would be nice to be able to say..visit the Warden headquarters in the palace and maybe see the PC from our DA;O save file directing things

Honestly, I'd just like more of the same with a few tweaks. A non-mage healing class or specialization would be great. While I don't want them to waste a lot of time making the official campaign multiplayer, it would be nice if the engine supported it so third party campaigns could be multiplayer.

That one drove me nuts. Its like the game is nagging you constantly for.... playing the game. It would be great if they could comment on the battle but those do drive me nuts as well. And I would prefer more custom party chatter with no choice for voice over less, repeaded chatter.

I also wish they would create an alternate control scheme to the "click, click, click..." on the ground interface. I metioned this in my other thread but I like to have the option of using a stearing option at times when I am not fighting but just walking from place to place. All that mouse clicking gives me RSI. And sometimes you click on an open area and it just does not register.

Yes the game is great but all great works can improve.

Pretty sure a Barbarian Origin was planned for the game but was scrapped for some reason, definitely would love that, someone above mentioned a more complicated Talents system, I don't see why anyone would want to make a game more complicated.

The only thing i would want for the sequel is better Create a character options, to be able to adjust your size/thickness, better hair, etc... and for you to be able to have a beard and still adjust the chin, cheecks, mouth, jaw etc.... I love me my beards but i don't want a bearded Skeletor face:P
