Can anyone explain how I use Runes? I cant figure out how I use them on my armor/weapons.

You have to have Sandal or a Enchanter NPC do it for you. (As far as I know, at least.)

There are two dwarves (from the original DA:O) in Hightown, near the location of the dwarf who initiates the Expedition. Next to the dwarves is a sack and an enchanting box. Click the box. Select Armor or Weapon, Select the item to enhance, then drag and drop the rune into one of the available slots.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think you could take them out in DA:O. But from my experience in DA2, you cannot remove them once in the slot.

thank you! I was looking all over the place for those two dwarves from DA:O but couldn't find them any where. It's really frustrating how shop keepers show up on the minimap but not crafting people.

No problem, I'm not sure about whether you can enchant at home. But I know things like Alchemy can be done from the heroes home in Lowtown.
