I'm perhaps halfway through Act 3, and I feel like I should have activated Merrill's final relationship quest. She has moved in, I've given her both the Halla statuette and the Dalish Memento. She is at 100% Friendship and I completed A New Path. As far as main storyline goes, I've finished On the Loose to activate A New Path but nothing else besides other Companion quests.

Full disclosure, I did experience the glitch and after killing the demon, I chose the option that kept her clan from attacking. Other than those two facts, I believe I've done everything correctly to move the relationship along. Have I missed something, or perhaps ended the relationship by not killing her clan? Or am I just being impatient, and need to keep moving forward with the game to complete the romance?

i didnt get her complete romance until right around the final battle where she said she loved me.. I did kill her clan tho :S

I'm kinda confused about the whole merril thing. I think her quests are pretty bugged. In the start of act 3 when I got a quest to go talk to her I trigged a cutscene where she was crying in front of her mirror and I was like...wat?
Then it ends and you talk to her again, and she seems pretty contempt all of a sudden.

Then later after slaughtering her clan the quest just ends and you cannot talk to her anymore before just before the final battle.

I think the quests might have triggered quite a bit out of order.

Yeah, the way I understand it is that the conversation that should happen after A New Path glitches and activates right at the beginning of the Act. I guess the real question is if you can still romance her without killing her clan? Has anyone done this and can confirm?

i have but the cutscene did happen before i did the quest.

You got the cutscene early and also picked the response that keeps the clan alive, but still finished? If that's what you mean than good, thank you for the information. If I'd ended the romance I wanted to know so I could pop back to an earlier save without wasting more time going forward.

Not that it really matters as far as I can tell. The only interaction you have with Merril after that point is at the very end. Gotta love not being able to talk to characters unless you have a quest to do it.

Is it that way with all the romance options? Or is Merrill's final interaction the only one to proc so late?

I'm not actually sure now. I think I might have missed something. I only ever gave Merril one gift (Didn't know you could buy them in shops), so I might very well have missed something.
However, in the dialogue just before the end hawke kisses Merril, so I'm not sure.

Edit: I have the "completed a romance" achievement, so I'm guessing I did finish it.

I had the same problem. Looking back, it seems to me like the time I walked in with her crying, was probably supposed to show up AFTER the events at the top of the mountain with the Keeper.  I hope they patch that.

But even putting that aside, I really feel like there needed to be more to her storyline. I mean, we didn't really get any closure with the mirror did we? She didn't really talk about it after the "Top of the Mountain" event. It just kinda... stopped. All in all, I wasn't impressed with that.

Yeah, all the romances complete at the end of the game, when you pick a side.

I am a female hawke, and have had no luck so far with Merill. No flirting options at all so far. I gave her the one gift that was available.

so.... does this affect her relationship at all since everyone is having this glitch happen? The guide says that the final stage relationship quests secure most allies' loyalty around the ending, so what happens?

YES.  I think the idea is, after the keeper dies, she destroys/gets rid of the mirror.  Sadly, seeing the cutscene kicks in early, it removes the mirror from her house...

I'm rather hoping there is an ENTIRE new dialogue tree/quest bugged that none of us have found, because otherwise I'll be bloody disappointed by the Merrill romance.

Also, if you sleep with Isabella, no matter what you do afterwards with Merrill's, Isabella is flagged as your romance option for the epilogue.  and presumably in the saved game as well

This "Friend or Foe" quest has not triggered with Merrill for me at all eventhough I saw the cutscene with the mirror. I looked in my completed quest log and it is not there. Has anyone not bee able to complete the quest and still completed the romance with her? (I have done everything correctly for the romance except I did sleep with isabela and I constantly flirt with everyone else when she's in the party. Oh and Anders kissed me in front of her too.)

Foe. I think she stole that artifact to fix that mirror. Finished her quest, denied her the tool to fix the mirror, she gets pissed, argue, make up, give statue, and then three years later she has fixed the mirror, with the tool I denied her. What the fluff! 

I am not sure how she got it back, but the adorkable little elf is tricky I tell you.

i am playing the MACINTOSH version [its PC/Mac universal disk] and the new path quest was NOT bugged for me end dialogue happened as it should] however i did NOT got the "friend or foe" quest i got the kiss at the end thou.
my question is this [just to clarify: do i miss some dialogue by not being able to get "friend or foe" or is it just new path and the closure in the gallows?

Almost done with act 3. no friend or Foe for me. And Isabella 3rd act quest is bugged as well. Something seems wrong with "on the loose' It didn't trigger any quests for me other then Justice when i turned it in.

If you have subtitles on, and have slept with isabella, but completed the romance with merrill, when varric is doing the epilogue breakdown he says isabella but the subtitles say merrill so maybe the save isnt totally not-correctly flagged?
