So you're saying you would rather spend $60 on subpar than not have any game to play? That's a problem. There are tons of other options out there, especially past terrific efforts by Bioware.
I like Bioware games for the story they tell and the setting. I am not too overly concerned with the game play mechanics. The game isnt subpar, it is just different. Did i prefer DA:O? Yep. Do i like DA2, sure do. I'm not real fond of some of the changes but i believe Bioware when they say they are trying to improve things. I also think they get pressure from EA but there is no conspiracy like some around this forum want to believe.
Something we need to remember, in todays market there isnt much room for error when producing a big title like this. Dev costs are to unbelievably huge now. It isnt like it was back in BG days. Further, RPGs are such a small portion of the market. It makes very little sense for a dev to make a hugely complex rpg title at todays costs and then expect it to turn a profit when they just guaranteed to limit their game to a small percentage of the gaming public.
I know when i buy a Bioware rpg, i get a story that appeals to me. We gamers need to realize that Bioware has to adapt to the times or get left behind.
I hope Bioware will produce another more complex rpg at some point in the future. To get to that point i will continue to support them since they are the devs who make the best rpgs on the market because i still get a good game in the process. If they decide to make DA4: Black OPS, well then i will take me money else where.
