If you enter Redcliffe then leave before the big battle, does something bad happen?

Like undead razing the town or something.

Friend of mine is telling me he's doing Redcliffe first, which we've all determined to be a terrible idea. I want to advise him to leave and go do Honnleath and the Mages tower then come back, but I want to know that I'm not screwing him over first.

Indeed. I would rather advise to load a previous savegame. You actually get a hint when trying to leave the area, take it very serious.

One of my PCs went to Redcliff first, then circle tower, then back to redcliff.

My second PC went to the Dalish elves first and is now in red cliff.

Didn't seem to make a differance.

I'm not sure what defines that. I left Redcliffe and returned before the fight when I first promised to help them and then promised to return to help them to the villager guarding the bridge.

Once you've spoken with Bann Teagan things are set in motion that can not be undone.

Speaking with Bann Teagen is what "defines it"

No. I left after promising to Teagan. I think it must be A) the distance or B) Promising to return

You can go to redcliff, and then still do the mage tower to get help for freeing conner with no bad results. So finish up there, then choose getting help from the circle, then go do the circle quest (If you want to avoid the blood sacrifice). I did this with one guy, and did the circle first on this guy, and it made zero difference to the story.

I'm specifically talking about sidetracking before the big zombie rush battle.

Just tell him to leave after the big zombie rush battle. It's definitely winnable. Especially if he talked to everybody in the city. (I loved the outcome for Bella btw.) And nothing bad should happen to the village or the castle if you take your time after the zombie battle.

Nothing happens AFTER the zombie battle, however as mentioned if you talk to Bann Teagen and he asks you to defend Redcliff from the zombie horde, and you try to leave..

Tomas will try once to stop you, but if you leave after that you will get a random event that shows Redcliff being destroyed.

My first playthrough I had Redcliff destroyed because it wasn't "in character" to defend it :).

Personally, I dont think you should tell your friend to do anything.  Let him play the game and feel the story on his own.  It is a much better experience when you dont have RL friends spoiling it for you.

Aye, agree with Madlax here. I did Redcliffe first, and had no problems, story ran better as well for the character I was playing and flowed to me going to the Mage tower rather well. Let him play it how he wants, if he wants to raze the village and take Bann Teagan hostage let him, he may see something different from what others would do.

I'm asking what about if you leave before the big battle then come back?

Well, if you just go to camp, nothing. If you go elsewhere, then that's it.

Then the walking corpses kill everyone in Redcliffe except Bann Teagan, who will be lying in the Chantry bloodied and unconscious. Once you awaken him and he chews you out, the Redcliffe quest will proceed roughly the same as before.

Note that this will result in a number of side quests becoming unavailable, since there will be no one in the village to award them.

Anyone notice this is a 3-year-old topic? LOL I'm not even sure if the OP is still alive.

Does something bad happen? Nooooo. The walking dead slaughter the townsmen, everyone dies, what can be better than that? Would be nice to see an undead Teagen though :)

I don't believe you see an undead Teagan. Apart from the castle staff who survived, he's the only one who makes it. Possibly because Connor ordered him spared, more likely there's no actual explanation apart from Bioware just not wanting to rewrite the plot around his death.

Edit: Though this is just based on the wiki, which I'm not sure is reliable. Even in my complete monster playthrough, I just did not have the heart to do this.

No undead Teagans. The corpses rough him up but don't kill him.

The demon likely ordered Teagan to be spared. After all, she didn't kill Isolde or Arl Eamon, so she seems to be trying to keep Connor's immediate family alive. Maybe it has something to do with the deal she made, or maybe it's simply because Connor loves his family and she now shares some of the same feelings.

Ok, this is what's in my head right now: A scavenger digs a grave in the middle of the night and suddenly says, "what the hell's this?" Two other guys come and turn on their flashlights, "It's a bird!" "No, it's a bird origami, you idiot!"
While they're arguing, the fourth scavenger comes, and she says, "Am I sounding like your sharp-tongued aunt again?":lol:

It was a desire demon, and face it, Teagan is hot.

@VampireSoap I have to admit I don't understand what's in your head, but I laughed!

If it helps any, he's really angry when you return under those circumstances. Still sexy though.
