I know its only like £5, but just thought i'd throw a quick view on it, and also do you have to begin a new game to benefit from it, or does he only have say.. one companion related quest?

He's fully integrated into the game. He has a couple companion quests, and he has a full viewpoint on the decisions you make. He also has some fantastic party banter. He can be a love interest, but there's a big trick to managing it. I'd say he's totally worth it. He feels as complete a companion as any of the others.

His quests also tie into the rest of the game.  One of them involves the family of a man you might interact with in an unrelated quest in Act 1.  Another one ties into the situation within the city and gives you an idea of just how bad things are becoming.

And finally, if you're a Leliana fan then you need to get it.

Yes. Sebastian is a great character. I really enjoyed having Seb in my game and would highly recommend him.

I tried liking him the first time through, but despite how much fun he was for combat, I found his character to be kind of flat and annoying. And that's not even mentioning his hatred of Anders even before Act 3. If I play through again I'll most likely not bother recruiting him.

God I miss Shale...

Sebastian and Varric were staples in my party. The romance was cute, but I just wish that it wasn't limited to one cutscene.

do you miss out if you get him after act 2? Can you even get him then?

Is this the only Leiliana stuff in DA2? if it isnt, is it linked?

i got the game late and im on my first 'default' playthrough so i wantto know if i should wait for my second playthrough to use Sebastian from the start?

Oh and how good are the items you get with the DLC?

Honestly yes and no.

He is not intregrated fully at all.
There are obvious and glaringly so portions were he is missing from unlike Shale ( the fade. ).
He is a linear companion, no matter what options you choose he does not change beyond minor dialogue shifts.
Unlike the rest of the non dlc companions that give some small give and take dependant on prior actions.
Sebastian is static, and in a very obvious maner.
Romance option no matter your preference is not intergrated at all, not an issue for most myself included.
But it shows just how badly he is placed in game.

Right onto the reasons why you would want him.
The items, pretty powerful, sparse and expensive RL but what the hay.
The quests, short and worth XP.
Companions comments are actually very good.
There are many places he has been intergrated into, and very well considering the rest.
Any dialogue involving the chantry he is a must for imo.

In all I paid for him and felt cheated, but he has provided a use and added to the game somewhat.

Yep, I think it's worth it. The quests are like the other quests in the game, nothing new there, but like others said, the character is well integrated in the game to a point that it would be weird to not have him.

She does briefly, it's.. hmmmm, ok I guess.
Not what you expect tbh, maybe it'll go into it more in future but for the meeting it was.. wierd imo.
The meeting really is not tied into Sebastians prior quests at all tbh though.

He's worth it just for the extra quests and great magic items. My rogue used the Flint Company Cuirass for most of Act 1 and into Act 2. The stuff dropped in his Act 3 quest is also great. Best dagger in the game drops from his quest.

His voice is nice but his VA is over used in the game. Heck, half the time I kill off Merrill's Dalish clan just so I can "Kill Sebastian". His banter is pretty good and you'll learn quite a bit about Andrastian faith in Thedas. You'll also get a bit more from the Grand Cleric which is actually nice.

So yeah, it's worth it.

My only gripe with him is that you can't recruit him in Act 1 unlike all the other companions. Why? No valid story reason is given, since you can do his Act 1 quests in Act 2 and then recruit him right away.

so i assume that you dont get the extra weapons until Act 2 either?

Im just trying to work out how this dlc will fit in with my future playthroughs

You get a set of rogue armour, ring and four gold first chapter.
Chapter two a sword, a bow for Sebastian, a very nice staff.
Chapter three, A dagger, a mage hat, a shield, and some other pieces spread over the classes.
All are quite top tier for most  all of the chapter.

It was a good DLC for the price... Sebastian's a cool character who can hold his own in combat, you get a couple nice missions (more EXP and gold are always nice when they're both finite in the main game)... I had no complaints.

sorry for all the questions, but is that a long or great sword in Act 2?

Long sword, it has among other enchantments a 2m spirit damage effect on hit I think.
The shield in act three has some good magic resist and three rune slots.

hmm, part of me thinks i should wait a while to see if they release a toolset before doing anymore playthroughs...i loved playing DAO and Awakenings with all the visual mods and extra weapons armors and stuff....plus i cant decide on what class to try next...goddamn brilliant game with too many options even in vanilla form

If you haven't already done it, you might want to check out the section of the forums devoted to player-creations and mods... even without a toolset, people there have come up with some really cool ways to enhance the game, especially if you play on PC.

can't recruit him till act 2.
Act 1 is the longest act.

This alone makes him a major detraction as you probably already have your favorite party setup before he's even accessible.
