This may be the most non-replayable RPG in modern history. I have no desire to sit through that crappy excuse of a "story" a first time, let alone a second one. Also, besides being a different class, there's nothing remotely interesting enough to justify another playthrough. It was definitely a huge disappointment, because it's all fluff. Not worth anywhere near $60. Worth $25 maybe, but I have played richer, deeper games for less than that!

Yeah...Replay value is nearly non-existant. Some indie games on steam have better replay value and overall gameplay and cost no more than $10

I guess people just don't play for the story and characters anymore... it's sad, really.

Of course not! What you seek is called book. I expected a game?... Was that a troll?

It pains me to say it but YES it was THAT bad at times it was torture. There were brief flashes of the game it SHOULD have been, same it was trapped in the recycled enviroments, the dead city life, the below average characters, poor customisation choices and down right irritating plot holes.. i.e. My name is Hawke im a bloodmage I walk around a templar stronghold using bloodmagic and magic and no one notices that there is a apostate/bloodmage here.

I finished it once..... just about made it through I have no onclination to subject myself to that again. I lost count of how many times I played origins. Whilst it had flaws it at least felt it was reacting to my Warden and his background.

Seriously whats the biggest difference in DA2 whether Bethany or Carver meet the business end of a ogre?

Personally, I found the ending an atrocity. And to think that I was irked by NWN 2's ending of "rocks fall, everyone dies" <--- revenge of the p'oed DM.

This remind of something similar to what I experience.

My name is Hawle. I don't know whether I'm alive or dead. I don't know what am I doing at the moment. I don't know my own past. I don't know if Varric is telling the truth. I don't even know if I'm exist or Varric making things up. From the beginning until the end I have no idea what happen to me. Hawke character doesn't make any sense. I as Hawke don't make any sense of myself.

This is the worst role playing I have ever experience. If Hawke is my character then I play a non existing character. Player character doesn't exist in Single Player RPG is the dumbest thing in any RPG can offer. But if this is due to BioWare rushing things out, they better not do that again in DA 3 because this is not a joke.

Take DA:O remove 50%of the Game and features, move to another Location and fill that missing 50% of the game with Childish Combat and you get DA2.

I really dont know how peoples could think thats cool.

Been playing it for a few days now and don't see what all the dramatics are about. Some people are banging on like this is the only RPG to ever have been littered with bugs upon release. Fallout NV was a mess for a week or two, every Beth title is a complete bug fest upon release (and most still are) and almost every other RPG I've ever played have been a mess when they were first released.

People tend to forget all these bugs a few months down the line once they have been fixed, just like we all did with DA:O. The first game was a nightmare when Awakening got released and there were major issues when each piece of DLC was released. The same people moaning now are probably the same people that stated they were never going to buy another BioWare product when we were all getting shafted right, left and center with the DA:O DLC.

To be fair, I was one of those people too.

I don't actually mind the game mechanics either.  The only real issue i have with the game is people falling from the sky.  it's retarded.

I dont care about bug as long the Game is good.

I consider Vampire Bloodlines, one of the best RPGs in PC History. But without an patch you could not even finish the game because of the Bugs. You had to cheat you in the next level. But still. One of the best RPGs out there even with bugs.
DA2 would be crap even if it would bug free. The bugs are just the white tip on a huge mountain. :)

Because you don't see what all the dramatics are about. Did you read people complain about plot holes, inconsistent story and many other things too? Can it be fixed?

Bugs are not one of my major gripes with DA 2 yes they are annoying I consider a far larger problem to bugs is the fact that i struggled to find any will to "find out what happened next" I just didnt seem to care why should I i know for a fact it will entail entering a cave/dungeon/mansion/warehouse ive been in 457 times before kill the air striking ninjas then carry on.

True
But you cant expect to see anything like Vtm:Bloodlines anytime soon. That was masterpiece despite bugs and such things are very rare
I love DA:O but even DAO fall flat comparing to VTM:B,
and DA:2 ... ehhh i dont want to curse

I think we can all safely say, the game is somewhere in the middle, the opinions are spread out far and wide, between sides (like/dislike) and even between people with the same disposition on the game.

That said I don't envy the Bioware employee who is going to have draw a conclusion from this flotilla of opinions one bit.

I would have to agree. I have to say I enjoyed the game, but I could see after my playthrough how much this game would have shined given more time to develop it. More detail to Kirkwall, have it change over time. Your characters aging and providing your companions with more depth and background stories that got you to know them a lot better. The side quests having more impact on the story as far as how people react to you, cheers from your fellow refugees as you rise inside the city and help their plight. A city with people moving about, more stores etc opening & closing as the years pass. Just more attention to detail so that playing in one location would be more awe inspiring. But I think that would have taken a whole lot more time to implement than 18 months.

Things I liked in DA2: voice acting, fast-paced combat, new qunari outlook, variety in item designs, new Grey Warden armor and weapon( I can never thank Bioware enough), interesting story

Things I hated in DA2: simplified combat system, new elven outlook(Elves are anything but beautiful.I'd rather crown a toad as Miss America), new darkspawn outlook(I assume they wear braces and brush their teeth three times a day), recycling of dungeons, little change in game environment(you are basically stuck in the city of Kirkwall for 10 years), dialogue wheel, Anders(male hawke can't be nice to him without starting a homosexual relationship with him), useless interactions such as charity, rebellion of Kirkwall nobles and letter scam

The game itself was pretty fun to play. But some things should've been left alone. "Not all changes are good".

Dragon Age 2 is not a BAD game...in fact it has some awesome advancements that I hope to see expanded upon in future BioWare games. Indeed, my first (and only completed) run through was a real hoot and a lot of fun, interspersed with a few facepalm moments...

It's just not a great game...indeed...it falls into that category of game you wait for the prices to drop a bit and pick up as bargain...then trade in (if you're into that scene). The story does't evolve enough over different decisions..and the character / relationship dialgoue changes aren't enough to carry it on it's own...the combat is too repetitive, too fast, too gory..but it had some steps in the right direction...

I still believe a 78 - 79 score is about where the game belongs...as a launching pad and a learning experience...it will serve them well.

dragon age 2 is good, but far from great. id probably give it a C+. you'll get your $60 worth of fun out of it (IMO), but its flaws will be readily apparent throughout, and its still 'bleh' compared to DA:O.

Ignore what people are saying, because they're all just trolling and pissed this game isn't a duplicate of Origins. And if they would have taken Origins and just expanded the story, then people would have ****ed that this isn't a sequel, but instead it's "Dragon Age 1.5" and "Where's the real sequel?"

First thing, is you have to accept change. Dragon Age is still a new franchise, so change was inevitable.

To me, the combat is much more fluid. Rogues actually feel like rogues now, instead of just a debuff bot. They're really powerful support, and you actually feel like you're stalking your foes from the shadows now.

If I were to talk about everything they changed in Dragon Age 2, what I liked, and what I didn't like I'd be here for hours typing, and I really don't want to put that much time into a silly forum response, but I will just say this: If you liked the original and you're open to change, you'll love this one.

Great advice, I have ignored what you have said. You might want to work on that.

For a $60 worth I espect more, perhaps if it was sold for 14.99 I would have been more merciful.

But aside from that, apparently if you push a button something awesome has 2 happen...

Joining the bandwagon of "we expect better from you, bioware".
Also ridicules the people that lost their trust in the company after just one mediocre game (which leans on the better side of mediocricity).

(Yeah the sonic game doesn't exist) :P

Not a bad game, more like an unfinished but potentially good game.

The thing about games that are clearly unfinished is that its not a question about being good or bad, since its not far enough along to tell. It has the potential to be either but only when its finished. Right now, DA2 is in a pretty sorry state when it comes to QA/bugs and I believe the level design and combat is underdeveloped seeing as there are way too many identical placeholder dungeons and monster closets. The feeling I got was that with 6 to 12 months extra development, these placeholders would eventually be replaced with unique dungeons and unique scripted encounters.

So no its not a bad game. I liked the game enough to finish it and then immediately start another playthrough. However I don't think it is developed enough to make the good/bad call yet. I do understand the discontent from many players though, because if players don't protest when games are released in the state DA2 was, then it sets a rather uncomfortable precedent. It could be seen as advocacy of brutally short development cycles, where the end product is a buggy, cookie cutter mess. I don't want that model to become popular. I believe it can work once for the publisher/developer but repeating it is a path that will lead to ruin eventually.
